Biography

If you can, try to picture the well-worn sawdust floors of a not too trendy, and somewhat rowdy southern honky-tonk. The soft glow of neon, and heavy cigarette smoke fill the air. In the corner, the jukebox is cranking out solid gold country tunes, and somehow manages to cut through all the clatter of the Friday night clientele. Sounds like the common theme for many a good old country drinking song, doesn't it? Well this is where Leon Wesley Walls began paying his dues, and began earning his stripes as a musician, and a song writer. In the many dimly lit, and smoke filled road side honky-tonks and bars around northern Kentucky and southern Ohio. Leon was born in Cincinatti, Ohio. The third of four children. He grew up in the river city town of Covington, Kentucky (just accross the Ohio river from Cincinnatti). It seems that music has always exemplified Leon's life. He learned to play guitar at nine, and then began performing in his family's band, at the age of twelve. In the late seventies Leon headed out on his own forming, and fronting his own band, and toured nationally throughout the eighties and ninties, opening for acts such as, Exile, Shania Twain, The Remingtons and Steve Wariner to name a few. Leon discontinued touring in 2001, and now resides in Palm Springs, Ca and spends his free time writing and recording demos.

Lyrics

Breakaway

Written By: Leon Wesley Walls

I've been chained to this time clock half my life
and it's bled more life from me than my ex wife
but I'll break these chains when I walk out today
I've served my time and now it's time for my chains to breakaway

breakaway freedom's on my mind
paid my dues served my time
won't know where the road leads till I go
breakaway adios goodbye
gonna live before I die
today is my independence day time to breakaway

why should I keep on doin what I do
I I'm walkin now I've more than paid my dues
why I could punch this clock till I'm old and gray
and for my trouble have a gold watch a party and a cake

this life is leadin nowhere nothin's here for me
and for the first time as my shackles breakaway
I know I'm finally free

my friends believe I've gone out of my mind
but there's more to life than what I've left behind
dreams still burn within my heart from younger days
today my dreams and I walked out and saw our chains breakaway

Fancy Seein You

Written By: Leon Wesley Walls

well fancy seein you afer all this time
I can't remember the last time you crossed my mind
no guess it was this mornin when the dawn came slippin through my blinds
well fancy seein you after all this time

how's things been with all those fancy friends of yours
guess they're the reason you went walkin out my door
it took this old heart some time but now this old heart is doin fine
well fancy seein you after all this time

somebody told me seems just the other day
that they ran into someone who said your engaged
oh your wedding is friday no I've got plans but they slip my mind
well fancy seein you after all this time

gotta run now someplace else I gotta be
then I'll just go home and relive old memories
I hope your life is happy and I hope he always treats you kind
well fancy seein you after all this time

It Ain't A Very Merry Christmas

Written By: Leon Wesley Walls

it ain't a very merry christmas
baby why'd you walk out on me
it ain't a very merry christmas
why leave me in yuletide misery
it may be christmas time it's true
but it ain't very merry without you

don't want what santa claus is bringin
can't have no merry christmas now
don't want no jingle bells a ringin
while missin you blues are all around
it may be christmas time it's true
but it ain't very merry without you

now I tore down our christmas stockins
and threw that tree out on the curb
the neighbors must've thought it shockin
seein that tree fly just like a bird
it may be christmas time it's true
but it ain't very merry without you

it ain't a very merry christmas
my poor heart aches down to the bone
it ain't a very merry christmas
won't you please baby please come back home
it may be christmas time it's true
but it ain't very merry without you

yeah baby it's christmas time it's true
but it ain't very merry without you

yeah baby that's why I sing these blues
cause it ain't very merry without you
