If Le Pianc have one thing clear its that they are looking for a specific sound. With two girls fronting the band, screeching saxophones, marimba and keyboards they play upbeat punk-pop with something of the flavour of The B-52s, The Raincoats and Kleenex. They have also found inspiration from the brighter side of early-eighties English post-punk as well as the decade-long independent scene that emerged from it and which produced aesthetically interesting projects like Sarah Records. These comparisons can be made from both an aesthetic and stylistic point of view. If you need proof of this just have a listen to the brilliant new album that they have just released on Sones/La Calazione.
Before making this album Le Pianc had already released two 7 inch singles on their own label, Maravillosos Ruidos, and performed innumerable times in concerts and festivals, building up expectations among an ever-growing army of fans for this: their full-length, energy-charged debut.
Le Piancs songs are short, about two and a half minutes long, and this is one of their greatest tricks. The fact that theyve composed so many songs (15 are included here) shows that they have talent to spare: talent which theyve used to cram as much personality and robust good health into each track as possible.
Their live performances are real parties, a bombardment of brief and refreshing songs which keep your ears and your feet occupied during the entirety of the concert. They have already brought their wonderful stage act to places like Primavera Sound, Minifestival, Easy Pop Weekend and Festigabal.
