Biography

Music has always played a huge part in Lesley’s life. Her first performance was as a five year old, standing on a
table at a family party singing made- up words to a piece
of music that was playing.

With a father in H.M. Forces, her first public appearance was as a teenager
at Episkopi Folk Club. She was so well received that at sixteen years old Lesley was appearing all over Cyprus as part of a folk group collective
singing traditional and contemporary folk music. It was a pivotal time;
Lesley was hooked and has been in the music industry ever since.

Lesley then spent a number of years working in a variety of rock and pop bands touring Europe and the UK, including the infamous North East and Yorkshire club circuit. Wanting to explore her own artistic capabilities she conceived and produced a show in 1991 called ‘The Lesley Curtis Affaire’ with two backing singer/dancers, performing songs as diverse as ‘Stairway to Heaven’ and ‘Memory.’ Her show supported acts such as The Bachelors, Hot Chocolate and Joe Brown.

In 2002 she starred in the theatre stage show “A Musical Tribute to Eva Cassidy.” Lesley then created her unique acoustic show called “Intimately Eva” which she still performs in venues around the UK today.

Always driven to push herself further, Lesley now turned to song-writing. This focus on writing really ignited Lesley’s creative passion and she released her debut album ‘Shock Delayed’ in 2003.

In 2006 she released ‘Music Moves Within Me’ reflecting her interest in spirituality, voice and holistic healing. You can find out all about that experience and the collaborative album ‘Soul Dreamer’ in Lesley’s World.

Lesley has worked as a sessions singer both in live and studio environments and has recorded for The Real World, Comstock Records, Martin Knott and the Old School Recording Studio, Rhythm Academy, Slick City Music Productions, Paradigm Productions, Simon Sumner, BBC local radio, BFBS radio amongst others.

She is currently working on her latest album due for release in 2012 on her own record label Organic Blonde, inspired by her folk and country rock roots.
