Bio
The first instrument I played was a cardboard box violin. I was incredible with that box and stick. Though, to the dismay of my stoic instructor I would rather color on my box then learn "run pony run pony." I was four, who could blame me?
It was a requirement in my family to play a musical instrument so us three kids became our own little talent circus. Though I hated the Suzuki method and the classical violin at the time, looking back on it I realize now the incredible ear it helped me develop. I eventually stopped playing the violin and picked up the guitar and drums. Then came the piano. I have never taken a instrumental lesson beyond the violin yet incredibly I can pick up almost any instrument and play.
The story behind my songwriting is as cliche as it comes! I wrote my first song about 4 years ago entitled "two weeks notice" for my boyfriend at the time. And, as you could expect, we broke up two weeks later. After that first song I caught the writing bug and couldn't stop. I wrote for my friends, I wrote from pain, I wrote to forget, to cope, to love and to deal. The last song I wrote was for a very close friend of mine who was recently deployed to Iraq. It speaks of the battle in the field as well as the psychological battle that our soldiers face every day.
