Lesser Known Characters

The Lesser Known Characters are an Alternative Rock band from the Pacific North West reminiscent of early 60's and 70's garage rock. Combining truly vintage sounds with a touch of early college rock and a strong focus on lyrical content. Their unique instrumentation and well crafted songs provide a large soundscape and musical vision that sets them apart from the run of the mill "classic rock" bands. They formed in late 2010 and comprised of former members of HolliePollock, a group local to the Salem/ Portland area. The band currently records all their own material on farmland out side of Salem in a old farm house on their reel to reel tape machine. Lesser Known Characters release a single each month as part of a 12 single series for free via their website. They plan to release a compilation of these songs in June of 2012 with a traditional LP release to follow in late 2012. They are being well received in the Portland area and Willamette Valley with an often packed show schedule and strong, quickly growing catalogue. Having opened for local staples such as Floater and The Cherry Poppin' Daddies along with playing nearly every theatre, dance hall and club in the area, the Lesser Known Characters are well weathered for their age and it shows.
