"Lester Swing, Sgt Peppers, East Northport"

As former winners of the Long Island Music Festival, it was obvious that this was a talented bunch of musicians. How talented they are came as a complete surprise. Shortly after 10 pm, the 5 members of Lester Swing took the stage and for the next hour mesmerized the rain soaked crowd. "Big Fist" is a quick paced rocker that could have easily found a home on the Sones, Exile On Main Street. Next up was a cover of Aerosmith's "Lord of the Thighs" that easily surpassed the original.
Lead Singer Tim Roth has everything you need to be a star. He's six foot plus, skinny as Joey Ramone, and can sing as sweet as Louis Armstrong, and as sleazy as Jagger or Tyler. "Fortune Cookie" showcased Roth's vocal talents and those of his bandmates. While Roth preached to the crowd numerous times about how they are an original band, the crowd and or bar owners dictated that a few covers be played. If they were going to play covers, it would be on their own terms. With mega-energy, they rocketed into the Stones "Live With Me" which more than satisfied the demands of the Sgt. Pepper's management, and left the audience spent.
"Little Man" showcased the dual guitar work of John Neder and Charlie Neder, and is scheduled to be on the next cd, due sometime this Summer. Also scheduled to be on the new cd is "Life Long Gone" which, from first listen could be a smash on K-Rock. This amazing set ended with the classic Crosby, Stills, an Nash cut "Almost Cut My Hair."
Lester Swing is currently recording their next cd with super producer Jim Sabella (Marcy Playground, Public Enemy). With the talented Saballa on board, 2003 looks like the year that the rest of the world will discover the genius of Lester Swing.
