Dead Last

Written By: Music: Bill Coome Lyrics: Maribeth Mundell

I was driving home in my brand new truck
Saw the lights, heard the sirens, thought "just my luck"
Slowed down, pulled over, thought "what'll I do?"
When down the shoulder came the Man in Blue
I rolled down my window and he gave me a grin
I looked pretty cute, so I thought, "I'm in!"
I tossed my hair, I batted my eyes
He said, (A)"How many cylinders? This thing sure flies!"

CHORUS
Some people say that the best times are all in the past
After I don't know how many years at the mast
And I know that time goes by too fast
But I've worked too damned hard to come in dead last

I was out with my girlfriend at the local bar
Wanted to kick back and not drive too far
We weren't dressed to the nines but looked good, I think
And NO, I didn't have too much to drink
We'd get looked up and down but then every eye
Regardless of mileage would pass us by
For somethin under 30, but boys what can you really do
When you're well past 40 and she's 22?

So honey, turn off your Giants, turn off your Jets
Turn off your Yankees, your Rangers, your Mets
Get off the computer and don't get upset
Cause I know that chivalry ain't dead yet

Look into my eyes and whisper my name
Push my buttons like a video game
Don't think of us as resigning to fate
I'm like wine, not beer with a "born on" date!

Dawn of a New Day

Written By: Music: Gregg Charles Lyrics: Gregg Charles & Maribeth Mundell

Can you feel it
The warmth that’s in the air
Dew rests upon my skin
Breeze blowing thru my hair

Life begins to bloom around
Light forms such arrays
It’s the birth of the
Dawn of a brand new day

Through the meadows
the breeze begins to blow
Apple blossoms dropping
petals in the snow
Sunlight dancing
through the shadows as they play
It's the birth
of the dawn of a brand new day

Whoa, Yeah, Yeah
Feels strange but I can’t say

Whoa, Yeah, Yeah
Has it changed or is it the same
What was once has now changed
What was is not the same
For no more is yesterday
For today is the Dawn of a new day

When You Close Your Eyes

Written By: Music: Gregg Charles Lyrics: Maribeth Mundell

What do you see when you (F)close your eyes?
When the arms of moonlight wrap around you and hold you tight
Do they carry you away into the gentle clouds of night?
Keeping you in comfort until the sun reveals its light?

I see you sleeping in your bed
And wonder where your thoughts have led

Sometimes I wish that I could reach into your dreams
And chase away the demons that haunt you as you sleep
Take away the pain of day
And hide you deep within my heart
Fighting all your battles for you
Things I can't do when we're apart

And when the morning breaks
And the gentle sun awakes
That's when I make all my mistakes
I reach out, hope that you reach back
But sometimes all that you see is black
You're up, you're down turnin circles round
First peace, then unreast
You can't be still

I know you struggle sometimes
You disappear into your day, a day I'll never know
You may not realize how hard it is for me to watch you go

I fear someday soon that you'll be gone, Leaving me to wonder what I've done

But I hope that you'll do what's right
As you step out into the light
I pray your future is so bright

If good advice comes from things done wrong
Then maybe that's why I wrote this song
So many times I've been weak when I should have been strong

There are times when we all break down
And our world turns upside down
We can't always smile through our tears
And we can't always face our fears

What do you see when you close your eyes?

Lyin awake cause I need you so
Listenin to the radio
Staring out my window at a sky full of stars
Wondering why you’ve got to be so far

Sitting wishing we could get some time
When you’re around everything seems fine
The music starts and I don’t understand
Why you can’t be my man

Life is a soundtrack, you know I’m not wrong
Cause it seems whatever happens, you hear the perfect song
The only song I wanna hear them play
Is something special from yesterday
I need a song to bring you here tonight
The soundtrack of my life…
Yeah… Yeah… Yeah eyah eyah
Yeah… Yeah… Yeah eyah eyah

I was standing my back against the door
Don’t know what I was waiting for
Maybe waiting for the music to be right
So I wouldn’t have to be alone tonight

Life is a soundtrack, you know I’m not wrong
Cause it seems whatever happens, you hear the perfect song
The only song I wanna hear them play
Is something special from yesterday
I need a song to bring you here tonight
The soundtrack of my life…
Yeah… Yeah… Yeah eyah eyah
Yeah… Yeah… Yeah eyah eyah

Dead Head Train to Nowhere

Written By: Gregg Charles

c2010 Music/Lyrics: Gregg Charles

The DEAD was a band back in the 60’s
They played that folk rock sound really well
People gathered everywhere to see them
Stories were born they just had to tell

Then came 1970 they were still a rockin’
Their fans and friends only seemed to grow
They could only listen to their music
Their brainwashed minds just didn’t seem to know…THAT THEY WERE

Riding on the Dead Head Train to Nowhere
Thinking things are still the way they were
Riding on the Dead Head Train to Nowhere
Jerry’s gone and this train’s moving on

1980 came and they sold their tickets
Playing late each night their fame only grew
Jerry led the masses with some “Truckin’”
Everyone was high and feelin’ good

When the 90’s came Jerry was to leave them
They held on to the members left behind
People had a hard time moving on now
A new beat and sound is just so hard to find… ‘CAUSE THEY ARE

Riding on the Dead Head Train to Nowhere
Thinking things are still the way they were
Riding on the Dead Head Train to Nowhere
Jerry’s gone and this train’s moving on
