Some bands blend well with their surroundings. The bright melodies emanating from Let's Go Sailing make the perfect soundtrack to their perpetually sunny Los Angeles. Their laid-back, surf pop songs makes you want to say, "Sure! Let's Go Sailing."

After entering the club, Courtney Love was humbly invited by female-fronted indie group Let’s Go Sailing to stay and watch their set. [This] quickly led to asking if she could play guitar with the band. Courtney grabbed a guitar, and after being quickly taught the chord changes, proceeded to play along and [sing] some background vocals during one of the band’s songs which Love called, “a hit!”
A clap-along ensued...., with members of the audience participating....the song, even with Love’s bizarre addition was, pretty damn good, in this journalist’s opinion.

The style of the unsigned band [let's go sailing]-- indie pop in the vein of Grandaddy and the Flaming Lips -- wasn't Love's typical sound, so she tried to rough them up and rock them out, Levy said. And because Love kept yelling that the song they played, called "Sideways," was destined to be a hit, the band whipped out three renditions of it -- two with Love, and the third as an encore without her.

Let's Go Sailing, you gotta love them. I checked out their show yesterday at the Little Temple and it was in 1 word 'beautiful.' Remember you're mommy tucking you into bed and singing you lullabies so you can sleep happily? This is the sound of LGS, if you're mommy were to sing like an angel of course. Check out their music here, recommended download for today is 'All I Want From You is Love,' so you better give them as much love as you can.

sold almost 1000 copies off website, at shows and at local record stores in L.A.
As far as radio airplay, Weekend Becomes Eclectic among other shows on KCRW 89.9 FM is playing songs from the demo, along with "Rodney on the ROQ from KROQ 106.7, "Check One Two" on INDIE 103.1, and KXLU 88.9 FM plays it on regular rotation, especially on "Demolisten." Scott Register recently took a liking to them at WRAX in Birmingham and has been playing them regularly on his show. The demo has also been added to rotation at several college radio stations throughout the US and Canada. Most recently, Anne Litt, the host of Weekend Becomes Eclectic picked the demo for her Best of 2004 show.

In November of 2002, Levy left Irving to pursue Let's Go Sailing. She asked friends Tanya Haden, Nikki Monninger, Brent Turner and Byron Reynolds (Possum Dixon) to work on an albums worth of material and soon enough they began working on a demo with Chris Chandler (Flaming Lips/Modest Mouse/Elliott Smith) and Rod Cervera (The Rentals/Weezer). The recording process quickly gained momentum and, with the help of Chris, Jim Putnam (Radar Bros.), and Ben Mumphrey (The Pixies/Frank Black), they decided to make a hi-fi record independently. The result is the 11 song LP The Chaos in Order. The band's lawyer, John Strohm who is a musician as well (Blake Babies/Lemonheads) is currently sending the full record out to labels as is their manager, Helena Ngo.
