"Leura"

Melancholic sounds emanate from the speakers as Lëura describes a world which hasn’t delivered soft hammer blows and
this searching for answers is reflected in the emotional directness of the music. Whilst you certainly wouldn’t be taking this off the shelves for a birthday bash, neither is it music which has you reaching for a noose.

The fragile compositions feels as though they will shatter into shards of glass at any moment as the poignant material winds its way on the mind of the listener. Balancing the contexts of the songs so as not to fall into self-pity is a skilful art and one which Lëura capably negotiates enabling the audience to connect rather than feel as an awkward bystander. The haunting beauty of the tracks leaves the music playing in the head long after the sounds have faded to silence.

To be found playing live with a full-band there is also a début eight track LP Creature of Sight set for release later this year. - Emeging Indie Bands

"Introducing Leura"

Hailing from Sydney, this 25 year old is nothing short of amazing. It is said that she has existed in the depths of the underground music scene for a while but she will soon be releasing her first EP, Brutal, Broken, Unspoken. She’s been compared to Bjork, Julia Stone, London Grammar and Daughter… and I can see where each of these comparisons are coming from.

There is nothing like an emotionally commanding female vocalist. You can almost grasp at the hurt and vulnerability that Leura communicates through her songs. Between her melancholic crooning and impassioned lyrics it is hard not to fall in love with her sound. Hearing that she worked alongside producer Lachlan Mitchell (The Jezabels) seems to only confirms my suspicions that this will be a memorable record.

Drifter is the first track off of the upcoming EP. If you do only one thing today, ensure that it is that you pay attention to the one minute mark in this track – it is one of those goosebumps moments. Leura is so good that it almost hurts. - Happy

"Leura - Drifter"

Australian artist Leura is, at 25 years old, bringing a foresight and a mature understanding of the world to her music that few can match at any stage in their life, let along their mid-twenties. The young artist has stated that she is “quite openly wounded by the world,” a sentiment reflected in her lyrics and the overarching sense of emotional attachment her sound creates.

Developing her talents in Sydney’s underground live music scene, Leura is set to release her new EP Creature of Sight with the backing of a full band. The first release is “Drifter”, a delicate but emotionally brutal track stemming from a place of honesty few would ever dare reach within themselves. “Sins give their knees, for you, for me,” she laments, with a voice that could move mountains, soaring in cathartic release with each and every note.

Her sound is London Grammar meets Bjork, awe-inspiring vocals embracing melancholy guitar work, inspired drums. Leura is going to be one to watch. Take a listen below. - Hilly Dilly
