"Culture Collide Comes to San Francisco"

Next I headed to Level & Tyson at The Chapel. The Norwegian outfit was comprised of 2 women and 3 men all sporting wardrobe choices not unlike our local San Francisco hipsters. They may have come from halfway around the world but they fit right in with their Mission counterparts.

Also dealing with a fairly small crowd, they chatted with the audience quite a bit which helped avoid those awkward silences. Once they started their set they definitely made up for the lack of audience. Heavy on the guitars but also on the harmony, their sound was refreshingly unique. Coupled with their enthusiasm it was no surprise they had most of the crowd dancing a few songs into the set. - Huffington Post

Level & Tyson (Norway)
Here in California, we live for the sunshine. But way up in Oslo, the sun can bathe the city for nearly 18 hours a day. That extended illumination infuses Level & Tyson’s bright, bouncy pop songs like “Calling Me Up”—but remember it can stay dark for hours and hours up there, too. Nighttime atmospherics permeate other songs, like “That’s What You Said to Me,” which undulates rhythmically in a sort of musical Aurora Borealis. Playing Wednesday at the Chapel; 7:30pm. - KQED

"Culture Collide 2014: Sky-high on Cloud Nothings [...]"

Level & Tyson
This Oslo, Norway-based quintet was a nice treat for a Friday evening at Church. A bit of dream-pop and shoegaze from Level & Tyson was just what this blogger needed to get into festival gear. With a lead guitarist shredding away on the alter underneath falsetto boy-girl harmonies, Level & Tyson brought their raw quirkiness to the States for the first time and were excited to do it. “It’s really cool to be playing in a church in L.A.,” gushed their frontman. “It’s actually our first time in L.A.” Reverb-laden guitars in “Calling Me Up” and “In Orbit” floated up into the church and perhaps made rock music as intimate as it could get.

Bio

LEVEL&TYSON is a noisy alternative rock band from Oslo NO, fronted by the intense and compellingly insane Richard Noir. Since the beginning L&T has been in the habit of confusing people – ranging from noisy and disturbing intensity to sweet as sugar ballads, all wrapped up in a punky howl along the lines of The Violent Femmes, Pixies and the B 52's. Since their debut in 2012, the band has toured in Norway, Europe and the US.

"Heavy on the guitars but also on the harmony, their sound was refreshingly unique. Coupled with their enthusiasm it was no surprise they had most of the crowd dancing a few songs into the set" - THE HUFFINGTON POST

"Tied Up" is an intriguing insight into a new wave blend of psychedelic synth-pop, proving Level & Tyson to be very much the kind of weird yet wonderful gang that you can only want to be a part of." THE LINE OF BEST FIT

”Level & Tyson's expression is both modern and timeless... on the record the bands sound is extremely confident, on stage they are bursting with enthusiasm... Level & Tyson should be on every stage this summer” - KLASSEKAMPEN

"Reverb-laden guitars in “Calling Me Up” and “In Orbit” floated up into the church and perhaps made rock music as intimate as it could get." - BUZZBANDS.LA

“Even Faster Still” is a fantastic display of skill and restraint – crafting melodic, layered choruses from quirky walls of guitar and synth. If this band and their album was being promoted in the United States, you’d already know about it." - BFF.FM
