"Texaco Country Showdown National Songwriting Contest Grand Prize Winner"

"Headstrong" is a family band consisting of three brothers and a good friend. Isaac Bria, the father of the
Bria boys (Riley, Spencer and Jaden) co-wrote this song with with fourteen year old Riley. While the
other finalists represented a collection of truly talented writers and performers, something about "Live,
Laugh and Love" captured the judges attention and, in the end, it was this father-son collaboration that
won the day! - Texaco Country Showdown

"Local Guitarist Riley Bria performs at the American Country Awards"

“Sixteen-year-old Riley Bria leapt into national recognition as a guitarist during the American Country
Awards Dec. 10. Bria is not sure why he jumped over Keith Urban's speaker during the Las Vegas
performance, which was broadcast nationally on television. Nor does he remember the origin of throwing
his blond hair directly back away from his face. Neither were rehearsed. The Lampeter-Strasburg High
School sophomore recalled the experience as "just having fun." Bria's high-energy performance has
gotten him noticed. Since Bria and the other young people performing with Urban were never named on
air, most people who watched the show know him only as the blond kid who performed with Urban. A
fellow Grammy Camp graduate picked for the performance told Bria that her hometown refers to him as
"the blond guitarist." He is now trying to find a way for more people to know him as Riley Bria. Urban
knew Bria's name.” - Cindy Hummel, Correspondent; Intelligencer Journal - Intelligencer Journal

"Mosaic Presents"

“A million dollars worth of auto-tune and plastic surgery can turn nearly anyone into a flash-in-the-pan
icon. Fortunately, genuine talent cannot be bought at any price. Mosaic is bringing an evening of
exceptionally talented young musicians to the stage on April 14. While there is no shortage of aspiring
teenage musicians, Mosaic has gathered a few with poise and ability beyond their years. In the case of
Headstrong , youth is not a novelty. On this special Mosaic Presents evening, the music will speak for
itself.” - Mosaic Presents

"Working on a Dream"

Four lads from West Lampeter are working toward a goal — to make music the rest of their lives.

While they may not be the Fab Four of country music just yet, they're making strides by performing and competing in contests.

Their band, Headstrong, will defend their Texaco Country Music Showdown state title on Saturday, Sept. 10, at Hersheypark. If they win, they will move on to play in Marietta, Ohio to vie for the chance to go to Nashville. A win in Tennessee comes with a $100,000 top prize.

Headstrong's members include the Bria brothers, 16-year-old Jaden, 14-year-old Riley and 12-year-old Spencer, along with 16-year-old Kevin Souders — who has become almost like family. The foursome practices at least three times a week in the Brias' basement, with Souders often joining the family for supper before rehearsals.

Souders said he sometimes plays the role of peacemaker. When the Bria brothers get into an occasional argument, he often gets them back on track.

"That is the biggest part," Riley said, "... gettin along and working together as a team."

Besides the competition this weekend, the group will also get an opportunity to showcase their talents when they open for Frankie Ballard at the York Fair Sept. 17. Headstrong's performance will begin at 4 p.m.

Not bad for a band that could only play four songs a year ago.

Daria Bria explained that two years ago her musical sons got their start when they learned to play a song for a church talent show.

But it wasn't until last summer that they got serious about their musical aspirations. The trio learned of a contest, then titled, the Colgate Country Music Showdown and wanted to compete.

A rock band at the time, the brothers invited Souders, who knew more about country music, to join them in the competition. They performed country tunes with a rock edge, which won them the state title and $1,000.

The Brias' father, Isaac, was responsible for coming up with the songs, including "Live, Laugh and Love," which he co-wrote with Riley. That song is currently in an online competition at http://countryshowdown.com, where anyone can log in and vote.

During the past year, Headstrong also won second place in a Sea Isle City contest. While the bandmates lost to a contorionist, Spencer said it was one of his favorite events of the past year.

They played before 4,000 people on the beach. Riley recalled people not only came to see them on the beach, but a crowd also gathered on the boardwalk.

The members have also earned the approval of their peers. Lampeter-Strasburg School District students have their song, "Live, Laugh and Love" in rotation at the school's station.

Headstrong took top honors at the Lampeter-Strasburg Battle of the Bands and performed at the Lebanon County Fair, Lancaster Catholic Fair, Chester County Hot Air Balloon Festival, Special Olympics at Villanova University and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Christmas Show.
