Now if I were to say to the words “Leviticus Pharaoh”, what would be your immediate reaction? I felt as though someone had thrown a copy of the Old Testament at me and I was about to hear to some obscure Christian revival band warning me of the dangers of ignoring burning bushes. However, I couldn’t have been further from the truth. Leviticus Pharaoh, who to my mild disappointment was not born Leviticus Pharaoh, but Joselito Antonio Gonzalez Pharaoh is a singer, songwriter and dancer who has a colourful geographical history.

Born in Australia, moved to Spain aged three then returned to Australia aged eight where he remained until his twentieth year. Citing Depeche Mode, Neil Young and Madonna as his key influences, Leviticus then moved to, in my opinion the creative centre of the world, London where he was heavily influenced by electro and dance. At this point he was asked to be a guest on Madonna’s “Drowned World Tour” in Australia. After spending four years jumping between various European cities and turning his hand to fashion and marketing, he finally relocated to New York City in 2008 and now in 2013 he has defined his own sound and is ready to release his hotly anticipated debut single 'As Elizabeth' from forthcoming EP 'SongLESS'.

Once you read about him and then listen to 'As Elizabeth', you can hear Leviticus’s vibrant migratory background being manifested in his music. Overall the track is a big fat homage to his beloved electro (as well as her Majesty the Queen!) it has a strong, thumping electro beat with Pharaoh’s unique thundering vocals towering over that have a bit of gospelly feel to it. The track is reminiscent of my days of clubbing across mainland Europe. It is bound to take the electro movement by storm and become a staple track to revellers across the globe. Pharaoh’s flamboyance singles him out as the one to watch in 2013!

The opening track and lead single, As Elizabeth is an epic story of dedication to duty.
