"Camden songwriter's songs featured on Persuaders CD"

C-I (Camden, S.C.) Localife editor

Soul and R&B Lyricist Levy Lenix of Camden has been writing songs for years, and several have caught the ear of record producers. But now, his work has been recorded on a CD by The Persuaders, featuring Big Ron.
“Fantasy,” “Pouring Rain” and “Without You,” for which Lenix wrote the lyrics, are featured songs on The Persuaders’ “Bagdad Tonight,” set to be released in early 2006.
Lenix’s songs were recorded in Columbia by Darrell Turner of Audio FX. The CD is produced by the Parlaay Entertainment Croup, of which Lenix owns 10 percent interest.
“Fantasy” has already received some airplay in New York City at FXM satellite radio, where it was chosen as the first song from the album to be played, Lenix says. Radio stations in Baltimore and Washington, D.C., have also played it, he says.
Back in South Carolina, it is to receive airplay on two Columbia stations, 101.3 WWDM and Kiss 98.5, Lenix says.
The Persuaders recently sang it at a live show in Richmond, Va., where they were on the bill with Bloodstone, Lenny Williams, and The Dells.
“I’m going to tell you it’s a dream come true,” says Lenix. “We’re sure this will do well with the support of the people.”
Lenix is also excited about another album and the talents of singer Steve Bracey of Bishopville, who will be the featured vocalist on the CD. Lenix has written the lyrics, and Turner of Audio FX wrote the music for the upcoming CD. Lenix is also producing the album, titled “Just Steve.”
During a recent show at The Coop on the University of South Carolina campus, Bracey sang “Fantasy” and two more of Lenix’s songs, “Gotta find a Way” and “The One.” At the gig, James Sumpter sang Lenix’s “Without you” and “Pouring Rain.”
A resident of Camden’s Edgewood neighborhood, Lenix is employed by Clariant in Elgin, where he has worked for 23 years.
A 1977 graduate of Winthrop College, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in social work. Since then, he has done graduate work, accruing some hours towards a master’s degree.

Levy Lenix: Songwriter Bio

Levy Lenix is a lyricist and songwriter from Camden, South Carolina writing for the R&B, soul and gospel genres with lyrical inspirations coming from R&B legends such as Lionel Richie and Stevie Wonder. His lyrics mix old school with a new school sound that has been appealing to more than one age group.
However, his works were admired and added to a country Compilation CD promoting the beauty of USA for Americord and Hilltop Recording Studios in California. Songs included: “Never Alone”, “Come Talk to Me”, “It’s You” and “Waitin”. His current projects include having his lyrics recorded in a professional studio in South Carolina with a count of well over 20 songs that have the locals buzzing and constantly listening to his work. Just last year, Mr. Lenix purchased 10% of the legendary 1970’s soul group, The Persuaders, most famous known for the 1971 hit, “A Thin Line Between Love and Hate.” The group has a new line up with a long awaited return and album coming October 24, 2006 titled Baghdad Tonight. Mr. Lenix has three songs on the album as well: “Fantasy”, “Without You” and “Pouring Rain” in addition to part ownership.
