New York native, Lewis Van Aken recently completed his first independent album, Bittersweet, produced by Chris Cubeta with Galuminum Foil Productions in Brooklyn. The 5-song EP includes the songs Bittersweet, Sister, Carrying On, I Need You, and Free to Live Another Day. Lew played acoustic guitar and vocals while producer Chris Cubeta played most of the other instruments on the EP. Other musicians include Todd Mihan, John Passineau and Jeff Berner. This is Lew’s first solo venture after playing in a hard rock band for eight years.
Lew comes from a musical family where his grandfather played mandolin and his father played accordion. His singing career began early with his elementary school chorus. Always a lover of music, Lew picked up a guitar that was kicking around the house collecting dust, and was instantly hooked. He purchased his Taylor acoustic guitar in 1996 and wrote his first song that same year. Lew has continued to hone his craft and branch out in several directions.
Lew loves all types of music but particular influences include Pink Floyd, Edwin McCain, and John Mayer. This latest solo effort is one of many styles Lew writes in. An upcoming project includes an alternative/modern rock album, showing his diversity as a musician.
