LEX LAFOY

Lex LaFoy is a South African rapper, writer, performance artist and all round creative from Durban. She is also a Psychology and Philosophy graduate from the University of KwaZulu Natal and obtained her Bachelor of Social Science degree in 2012. Voted one of SA's hottest female rappers of 2016 by GQ Magazine South Africa, Lex is certainly a rising star to look out for.

Lex LaFoy made a name for herself as a freestyle, battle emcee and performance poet between 2004-2012.  Making her debut onto the mainstream media in 2005, when Lex came runner up to Sizwe Dhlomo in the first ever MTV Base VJ search.

In 2013 Lex LaFoy was one of 30 South African artists to be selected for the exclusive Red Bull Bass Camp alongside the likes of Shane Cooper, Casper Nyovest, OKMalumKoolKat, Moonchild and others. In May, 2014 Lex and DJ Doowap represented South Africa in the Purple Velvet 5-week all-female hip-hop tour across Germany, Switzerland and Austria. In 2016 Lex focused on building her Television portfolio, and featured on Muvhango (SABC2), Keeping Score (SABC2), Next of Next Week(Etv), Amandla (Lionsgate) and had her first cameo as herself, in ETV’s star studded music drama Hustle. 

She is currently completing her debut album titled Honey Bass set for release in 2017.
