"The 21-year-old has just signed to the prestigious Warner Music and over the next 12 months we’ll be hearing a lot more from her including an album and more."

There’s currently a gang of incredibly talented young musicians taking over London and New York - taking each city by storm each time they pass through. Some members include Marques Toliver, Lauren Pritchard and Willy Mason but a new shining member is Lianne La Havas.

We’ve got two live videos below taken from a recent gig at the Slaughtered Lamb below so have a watch and a listen! - The Mahogany Blog

"Lianne La Havas Infuses Soul into Everything Everything's "Final Form""

At the ripe old age of 21, Lianne La Havas’ voice is wise beyond its years. With a sound that is both reminiscent of a bygone era and as contemporary as Adele’s, Lianne brings a unique flavor to the music scene. This London songbird has been generating a lot of buzz lately and recently signed with Warner Brothers Records to work on the release of her first album. After listening to her recent cover of “Final Form” by the up-and-coming English rock band Everything Everything, it’s easy to understand why people are talking.

Everything Everything recently released “Final Form” as the fourth single off their chart-topping album (in the U.K.), Man Alive. La Havas molds what was a straight-forward indie rock song into a genre all its own. What can only be described as indie/folk/R&B, this cover song showcases Lianne’s amazing vocal talent and range. The song starts as a soft guitar ballad and soon gets into a groovy rhythm. The blend of soul, modern beats, and Lianne La Havas’ voice makes this cover one for repeat listens. - Cover Me Songs

"You need to wake up to Lianne La Havas"

I've been following Lianne La Havas for a while now after being introduced to her by Amelia over at PutMeOnIt. Lianne is the latest in a growing line of female singer-songwriters emerging from the UK scene who have a foot firmly in the soul camp but also incorporate pop, jazz, folk, and just about any other genre you can think of. Personally I file her alongside the likes of Andreya Triana, Stac, and Laura Izibor (in terms of style rather than sound per se), but, from the little I've heard from her, it's safe to say she can stand on her own two feet as a definite one to watch' Check out a recent live performance of the song "Don't Wake Me Up" below, and as a bonus you can check her out performing as part of the Black Cab Sessions after the bounce. No word on when we'll get a release from Ms. La Havas, but here's hoping it's sooner rather than later. - Soul Bounce

Bio

Lianne La Havas has a rare talent. Singing and playing the piano from the age of 7, she has always been surrounded by music. After years of performing with her local choir, she began her professional trajectory as a backing singer with Rough Trade artist Rox, also singing for Paloma Faith before launching her solo career.

Since deciding to strike out on her own, Lianne has gone from strength to strength. Developing original material with writers and producers in the UK and in America, she recorded demos that attracted the attention of Warner Brothers Records, who have taken her on to produce a full length album.

Lianne’s captivating charisma is at its most potent on stage. Her presence holds her audiences spellbound, often with a keyboard as her only accompaniment.

Since signing to Warner Brothers Records in late 2009, Lianne has been working with a selection of writers and producers including Dan Carey (Franz Ferdinand/Hot Chip/Lily Allen), Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio, and Matt Hales of Aqualung. She has also signed with mega-agency CAA, who’s roster literally stretches from AC/DC to ZZ Top.

2011 will see Lianne split her time between London, LA, and New York, working on material for her debut and playing shows on both sides of the pond.
