Libero Vox is a tasty eclectic mix, spanning genres from country blues to punk, for true lovers of various styles

Biography

‘Libero Vox’ is the musical vehicle for poet / singer / songwriter Luke Golledge. A Latin term meaning liberated or free voice; the significance of the name lies in Luke’s expressed intent to create music without compromise and boundaries; music free to define its own destiny. Soul Conviction is his debut album and illustrates his devout appreciation of various genres and an innate ability to morph them into a collaboratively eclectic soul-scorching mix of musical styles ranging from country blues to punk.

Singers

Luke Golledge – Lead Vocals, Lyrics, Music

Luke has a B. Comm. and a B. IT but his successful ensuing career never saw him lose sight of his true love of singing and song-writing which he now pursues full time. Honed over ten years of writing and jamming, the songs on Soul Conviction are intensely personal but reflect emotions felt by all. Most of the tracks began as poems and the lyrical content had a major influence on the resulting genre of the songs.

"This is the main reason I wanted an independent release, I knew I would never fit into a single category and didn’t want to compromise the music. I have total disregard for commercialism and genre boundaries and as a result the tracks are a very eclectic mix. I believe it is really important for songs to be organic enough to flow with the emotions conveyed. As a result some songs on the album change mood numerous times within the song"

Renae Suttie (nee Bedford) – Backing Vocals

Renae is a gem; a highly sought and well respected professional Brisbane jazz and blues singer / musician for over 14 years.

Players

Simon Gardner – Guitars, Keyboard, Music, Production

Without doubt one of Australia’s finest guitarists, Simon has released three instrumental guitar albums (Big Sky, Sketches, The Dragon) to critical acclaim both here and overseas. His production skills were also invaluable in the creation of the album.

Robert Warren – Bass Guitar

Robbie is a renowned and highly respected professional bass player with over 20 year’s industry experience.

Scott Lynch – Drums

Scotty has 20 years of professional drumming under his belt, which is no surprise as his father was also a professional drummer. Endorsed by Pearl and Zildjian he has played in many bands and on many records including Simon’s last two. A rare combination of brilliant drummer and person……

Jeff Lovejoy – Recording, Mixing

The album was recorded and mixed at Blackbox Recording, home of Jeff and Magoo. It was mastered by William Bowden at King Willy Sound in Sydney.

Life's Simple Pleasures

Written By: Luke Golledge

I was thinking 'bout life just the other day 'bout the world and where it's goin',
wave of anxiety came over me, left me feeling so alone
Can't eat money, can't drink gold
guess I can burn it when i'm getting cold
Unless we link the world's money to its real expense,
we'll perish with money left over for the rent,
what's the sense in that, what's the sense in that

Keeping up with the Jones's, I don't care about that,
life's simple pleasures yeah that where it's at,
cherish the love of my friends, roof over my head,
this beautiful earth and the warmth in my bed
next to you, Ronnie you

Printing more money won't solve the world's problems, you can print it out all year.
What we're dealing with is finite resources in a limited biosphere
Money transcends politics, race and creed but it's a childish fantasy,
we can go on forever buying senseless shit, wasting what we really need,
what we really need, what we really need

Keeping up with the Jones's, I don't care about that,
life's simple pleasures yeah that where it's at,
cherish the love of my friends, roof over my head,
this beautiful earth and the warmth in my bed
next to you, Ronnie you

If we could see life through the eyes of a child how do you think it would appear?
Don't spend time with them, you work day and night just to buy the latest gear
Is a person's worth in this world measured by wealth when they die
or the number of friends at their funeral who mournfully cry?
All you leave in this world yeah is what you create,
will it be a world full of misery, bitterness and hate
Don't let that be your fate, don't let that be your fate

Keeping up with the Jones's, I don't care about that,
life's simple pleasures yeah that where it's at,
cherish the love of my friends, roof over my head,
this beautiful earth and the warmth in my bed,
keeping up with the Jones's, I don't care about that,
life's simple pleasures yeah that where it's at,
cherish the love of my friends, roof over my head,
this beautiful earth and the warmth in my bed
next to you, Ronnie you ...

Comme Ci Comme Ca

Written By: Luke Golledge

Why wouldn't anybody say, why wouldn't anybody tell me the truth
Why wouldn't anybody say, why wouldn't anybody tell me the truth
Do they think I'm fragile like glass, think I'm wrapped in cotton wool
Think I was so blinded by my lust, I didn't know that I'd lost you

Comme ci comme ca, I'll get over it I heal fast
Love without foundation is never gonna last
Oh comme ci comme ca, didn't rate high on your chart
Of marital perfection so now it's time to part

You tried to bend me, change me, shape me like a ball of plasticine
Turn me into the type of person I would never want to be
Maybe I'm a dreamer, naive to believe , person out there who really loves me
Will always want me to be me

Comme ci comme ca, I'll get over it I heal fast
Love without foundation is never gonna last
Oh comme ci comme ca, I'll get over it I heal fast
Far as I'm concerned your love's already in the past

You lost that twinkle in your eye, warmth in your touch
When your efforts to change me didn't really amount to much
Now I know that it's over, Glad that we are through
Was living in a comfort zone but the love was never true

Comme ci comme ca, I'm over it I heal fast
Far as I'm concerned your love's already in the past
Oh comme ci comme ca, I'll be wiser from the start
The one who really loves me will come and take my heart

Comme ci comme ca, I'm over it I heal fast
Far as I'm concerned your love's already in the past
Oh comme ci comme ca, I'll be wiser from the start
The one who really loves me will come and take my heart

I'm not fragile like glass, I ain't wrapped in cotton wool
From lust to enough, glad that we are through

Not fragile like glass, I ain't wrapped in cotton wool
From lust to enough, glad that we are through
Yeah glad that we are through

Outside In

Written By: Luke Golledge

You know there ain't a second chance to make a good first impression
Yeah that's human nature not some vain obsession
Take a last look in the mirror, check the vibe that I'm expressin'
Looking for a lover tonight to this I am confessin'

And you know it's true when I say to you

We're all working from the outside in
Look at all the sisters checkin' out the brothers
Subtle stolen glances at potential lovers
Working from the outside in
From the outside in
Gotta have somewhere to begin
We work from the outside in

Nature is the reason that I now stand before you
Saw your eyes across the room, knew I could adore you
Beauty's only skin deep I want to go much deeper
Are you beautiful inside you or an angelic faced deceiver

And you know it's true when I say to you

We're all working from the outside in
Look at all the sisters checkin' out the brothers
Subtle stolen glances at potential lovers
Working from the outside in
From the outside in
Gotta have somewhere to begin
We work from the outside in

You've made me laugh, you've made me smile, you dance with soul conviction
Being close to you, becoming an addiction
Don't want to get my hopes up but my heart wants to surrender
Will you hold me in your arms, will you love me tender

Will you treat me true if I fall for you

We're all working from the outside in
Look at all the sisters checkin' out the brothers
Subtle stolen glances at potential lovers
Working from the outside in
From the outside in
Gotta have somewhere to begin
We work from the outside in

Not about trying to win
'Bout finding your soul mate, your kin
Someone that'll let you in
So your new lives begin

Some Music

Written By: Golledge

When are we gonna play some music man
Is what I had to say
Before my treasured youth
Just ups and slips away

Now I know we’re both real busy
Busy living to the plan
To make our lives as interesting
As we know we can

But I feel the clock is ticking
Yet I've got so much to say
Autumn turns to winter
Days they fade away

See the days they fade away
Grab your guitar man, come on let's play
Right now

Not for ego, not for fame
Not for fortune, or to make a name
For enjoyment, to keep us sane
Music's pump, pump, pumping through our veins

Yeah not for ego, not for fame
Not for fortune, or to make a name
For enjoyment, to keep us sane
Music's pump, pump, pumping through our veins

Maybe my roots are tribal
I’ve got to move my feet
Life to me without music
Is a life incomplete

So come on let's get together
Warm up that fender amp
We'll play and drink and holler
‘til your fingers cramp

Don't care if the neighbours rave and rant
Come on warm up that fender amp
Play until your fingers cramp
0h yeah

Not for ego, not for fame
Not for fortune, or to make a name
For enjoyment, to keep us sane
Music's pump, pump, pumping through our veins

Yeah not for ego, not for fame
Not for fortune, or to make a name
For enjoyment, to keep us sane
Music's pump, pump, pumping through our veins

Like the rest I’m getting deafer
With the dawn of each new day
Let’s jam before I’m tone deaf
And my hairs turned grey

That clock just won’t stop ticking
Still got so much to say
Spring turns to summer
Days they race away

See the days they race away
Summer skies have turned to grey
C’mon lets go inside and play
Right now

Not for ego, not for fame
Not for fortune, or to make a name
For enjoyment, to keep us sane
Music's pump, pump, pumping through our veins

Yeah not for ego, not for fame
Not for fortune, or to make a name
For enjoyment, to keep us sane
Music's pump, pump, pumping through our veins

Yeah I know we got wives
I know we got kids
To stop playing music, well that’s just a sin
Not using the gifts God’s given you
Is like a fly preferring to walk
So I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again
Music's pump, pump, pumping through our veins

Comfort Zone

Written By: Golledge

2.30 this morning
Cold sweat and my head was churning
Visions of how my life had gone
In that nightmare my dreams were dying

Alarm rings, 5.30
So much work yeah I’ll get in early
How did it ever get to this
When I think of the life I’ve missed

Safe and sound on that well worn road
Don't stray too far from home
I’m so scared to leave my comfort zone

On that well worn road
Don't stray too far from home
I’m so scared to leave my comfort zone

Yeah aha
Scared to leave my comfort zone

Night time, 7.30
Still at work with a pile of plenty
That’s what they pay the big bucks for
Heart’s not in it it’s such a chore

Still here, 9.30
What will my epitaph be
Worked so hard, died so young
Lot’s of money but not much fun

The dream was enough to make me see
Chasing money didn't come for free
It was at the expense of my reality

Was enough to make me see
Chasing money didn't come for free
It was at the expense of my reality

My reality

My reality

Blazing trails now off the well worn road
My heart feels right at home
I’m so glad to leave my comfort zone

Yeah aha yeah
Got to leave that comfort zone

Yeah aha yeah
Got to leave that comfort zone

Got to leave that comfort zone

Got to leave that comfort zone
