"Demo Review (2009)"

Oxfordshire MusicScene Review
There’s always one Christmas
present under any tree that looks
somewhat out of place. It’s usually
the tatty one stuck towards the
rear, lacking any fancy bows or
trimming and yet equally it’s
usually this one, which yields the
most impressive gift.

Liddington’s demo CD is that
hidden gem. Disguised with a
rather plain label, a distinct lack of
fancy packing and only two tracks I
nearly dismissed it as another
throw away offering that would
be lost sometime during boxing
day.

However like a good glass of
mulled wine, the music is purely
magical and leaves me longing for
more. In fact the track ‘Carried
Away’ does quite literally that,
wondering what delightful things I
can say about this promising band.
It’s a cracker of a demo which puts
them on a par with the likes of
Doves and Snow Patrol and leaves
them as a band to watch in 2009.

Bio

Liddington are their own biggest fans and their own worst critics. In early 2007 the four-piece set out to do what every band strives for - stand out from the crowd. A few scratched heads and blurry nights later they stumbled on the answer: forget about everyone else, write songs that you'd like to listen to, then play them as loud as you can. And so that's what they did, and are still doing. Forging out their own unique instrument-swapping live sound, they now bring their soaring melodies to life gig after gig and are undoubtedly ready to take their songs to a far wider audience.
