Feeling a bit camera shy

NY's Electronica Seirenes Light grew up in Manhattan and has been surrounded by music and art all her life. Black, White and Native American, she comes from a diverse musical and artistic culture. From an early age she watched her father perform as a bassist in New York Citys top jazz clubs. At home she would spend hours making cassette tape recordings and singing in her room. At age 6 she began taking piano and acting lessons followed by vocal lessons in classical and jazz at age 14. With an impressive four-octive range she was naturally chosen for solo venues. This led to performances in various vocal groups in high school including performances at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie Hall, as a member of New Yorks All City Choir. While studying music composition in college Louisa was intensely interested in Opera, R&B, Hip Hop, Jazz and Electronica and began to fuse the genres. Immersed in the world of fantasy/sci-fi she decided to tell tales through her songs and create journeys through her powerful imagination and colorful imagery. In her home studio lab setting new sounds started to emerge that were fresh while remaining deeply rooted in a variety of musical traditions. During this time she began to perform with the live D&B group Droid in and around NYC using free improvisation vocal skills until she began working as a solo artist. Light has performed on venues with artists such as Wu Tang Clan, Jordan Mclean of Antibalas and Brown Suga. Light has performed around the NYC and Washington D.C. in clubs including Tonic, Galapagos, Zebulon Cafe, The York Hilton and Towers, The Tank and the Knitting Factory. Experience a truly unique and innovative new artist! **** PS. Most of the gourgouse paintings in the slide show were done by Howard David Johnson (beautiful work). Most of the photos Light did digitally. BOOKING CONTACT:
