Bio

Light FM is the brainchild of singer/songwriter/producer Josiah Mazzaschi. Mazzaschi (pronounced Ma-za-chee) moved to Los Angeles from Chicago in the summer of 2005 in hopes to bring his songwriting and recording knowledge to the industry. It was in Chicago where he first made connections with Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins. Light FM toured in support of the Smashing Pumpkins in the fall of 2011 playing sold out theater venues across the US in support of their fourth full length record, "Buzz Kill City". Songs from the album have been warmly received and played frequently on LA's KROQ, Chicago's WXRT, and London's XFM radio stations. Their music has been featured in movie soundtracks such as, "The Vow" along with artists The National, Lykke Li, and The Cure. They've also shared stages with The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Smashing Pumpkins, The National, Ra Ra Riot, and many more. They've played sold out shows at prominent venues across the country such as LA's The Wiltern, Troubadour, Chicago's Riviera Theater, Washington D.C.'s The 9:30 club, and Boston's Orpheum Theater.
Josiah is also an accomplished engineer and producer working out of his LA studio called, "The Cave" He has worked with artists such as The Jesus and Mary Chain, Built to Spill, Rilo Kiley, The Sleepy Jackson, Spinto Band, and many more. His recordings have been featured in major motion pictures and television shows across the world. Light FM plan on touring in the fall of 2012 to promote their fifth full length record (title TBA).
Light FM prefer to call their sound, "Nugaze". It's equal parts New Wave (Gary Numan, The Cure, Devo) morphed with early 90's shoegaze (My Bloody Valentine, Ride, Jesus and Mary Chain). It still remains poppy with solid song structures lying underneath atmospheric washes of sound. One writer described it as, ""Synth-driven rock and roll. Sounds kinda 80s, sounds kinda MBV, sounds kinda frickin' cool."
The band has played SXSW 2009, 2011, and 2012. They have proved themselves to be an accomplished act with perseverance, talent, and musicianship. Look out for Light FM coming to your town this fall!!
