"Track-by-Track: Sean Marshall"

Sean Marshall manages to find warmth in the hopeless. The Columbus, Ohio singer/songwriter displays the kind of old soul that presents the world with the weight of his past mistakes. Having learnt from them, Marshall produces not just a relatable narrative but one that proves things will get better, no matter how despondent we become. - GoldFlakePaint

"Album Review: New by Sean Marshall and The Near Miss"

It’s at all times exciting and heartbreaking, a sentimental daydream about a future that may have just left us behind. No matter how you choose to look, you’ll find something in New, a melody for those who don’t know just yet. - The Indie Sound

"Listen: Sean Marshall Shares “In the Bare” // New LP Out Now"

Marshall presents a more mature and fully realized sound on his latest solo offering … the songwriter lays out his soul with a rich, textured alt-Americana sound evoking heartstring pluckers and heartland lovers Ryan Adams and Lord Huron. - Speak Into My Good Eye

"Talent Buyer"

"Lightning Jar is fast becoming the band to see and feel in the Asbury Music scene. Truly a new artist that will put a stamp on Asbury Park and all over the NYC metro music scene." - Scott Stamper - Talent Buyer and Owner of The Saint, Asbury Park, NJ

"Fellow Asbury Park Musician"

"Lightning Jar brings to the table a display of musicianship to be admired, and harmonies to chill the bone. Folk-rock for a new era, with soul and lyrical dexterity to paint the listener a picture of places and personal experiences. Not to be missed." - Frank Lombardi

Practical (2019)
New (2016)

With his second full-length release, Practical, Sean Marshall steps to the front of the stage with two musical priorities: his voice and a song.
Since the critically respected release of New in 2017, the Ohio-based lyricist has embraced his songwriting skills in their purist and simplest form. But Marshall is not alone: his band, The Near Miss, is just behind him in tow, keeping simplicity and the sanctity of song in mind.

In all its vulnerability, Practical presents the conflicts between conventionality and originality, domesticity and voyeurism, home and the stage. Marshall and band can be heard in bars, breweries, and music venues throughout the Midwest.
