Lightnin Strikes

Lightnin' Strikes is the creation of guitarist songwriter Mike Cunningham. Cunningham by day is an attorney. The band has been gigging along the Mississippi Gulf Coast and LA (Lower Alabama) since 2002 in one form or another. The band has delighted those they have had the pleasure and opportunity to play for with their steel blade edged rockin blues. The band recorded and released it's first CD in 2005 Black & White. 11 original songs written by Cunningham in his laundry room over the years, which crowds enjoy, dance to, and request. The band's recordings were decimated by Hurricane Katrina. LS trudge onward and forward not letting ANYTHING or ANYBODY get in the way of their dream of bringing their music to the masses and playing before as many people as they can. Songwriter/Guitarist Mike Cunningham writes the blues from all to too true life experiences he has lived, breathed, and risen from. This version of the blues is the real deal. No fakin'. No pretendin'. Influences range from Robert Johnson through the young guns on the blues scene today. Heavy influences of Hendrix, Stones, SRV, Clapton can be heard and felt.
Lightnin' Strikes were selected, via Sonicbids, to participate in the SBBS Battle of the Bands in Helena, AR June 22-23 , 2007 for a chance to play at the Arkansas Blues and Heritage Festival in October of 2007. Lightnin' Strikes finished 3rd in this event and were invited back for the festival on the Emerging Artist Stage.
