"Like Diamonds – In This Together (Exclusive Premiere)"

As many of you know, we like to go out of our way to find that new inspiring flavor for our readership. Today however, we didn’t have to go far because the band you are about to hear is part of the EMPT extended family and many of you are actually quite familiar with one its members…

Two months ago we premiered a concept album called Nights in Cuba by our good friend Dub Sonata. During our interview in his Mount Vernon studio Dub played me some rough tracks of his next project – Like Diamonds. They were rough to him but there was nothing undone about lead singer Luka Tacon’s delivery and the bands masterful blend of pretty much every style I’ve ever loved. If EMPT was signing artists, I would have signed them on the spot. I told Dub to keep me in the loop and make sure EMPT got the exclusive when they were ready to release and here we are with an amazing track your friend that’s heard everything has never heard.

In the night as I dream while she sleeps, could it be she’s dreaming in a fantasy that we made on our own where there’s nothing no distractions, we’re just in this together…

In This Together is a smooth late night banger about the blind sided nature of being in love. You ever think about your love interest and get lost in your admiration, indulging in all the details of your romance and basking in the feelings that come with it. If you’ve done that then almost by law you’ve stopped right in your tracks to wonder if that person feels the same way about you…

Is it something that she’s feeling too? Am I making an assumption or are we –
In this together?
No one likes the feeling of uncertainty but in my book that’s part of the excitement and romance of it all. Some people like to interrogate their partner about every single detail and before you know it all the magic is gone, I prefer the Like Diamonds approach which is quite simply – Do you feel that too? I like love through love songs and this song quickly became on of my favorites in that category.

You’ll be hearing a lot more from these guys in the months to come and it’s only a matter of time before the internet catches on. Check them out on Myspace, Twitter… you know the drill. Video after jump, enjoy. - Et Musque Pour Tous

"Thursday // Popshop @ Tammany Hall"

Last Month Neon Gold killed it once again with their 2nd POPSHOP party; held the first Thursday of every month at Tammany Hall. Like Diamonds, Penguin Prison, Lightwaves and The Knocks had the crowd going crazy all night offering a wide variety of beats that had you dancing all night. The venue was packed and the crowd was looking good for sure.

I rolled up around 9 to catch Like Diamonds, the music project by front man Luka Tacon, aka DJ Son of Wolf (Blind Barber, Ella) , multi-instrumentalist David Kiss and drummer Justin Hofmann. As soon as I rolled in to Tammany, I recognized a ton of familiar faces – DJ Equal, Jesse Marco, Jeff Laub of BB, Nicky Digital, just to name a few - and knew we were in it to win it. I had checked out a few of Like Diamond’s tracks beforehand was blown away by their live performance. The 6? piece band blends disco, electro, and island feel in to music you cant help but shake your hips to. And everyone loves a band with bongos… cmon who are we kidding?

Anyway, the shots of Jamo were flowing and Penguin Prison continued the show with their staple electro-dance beats. To just make it an all out dance party, The Knocks really outdid themselves headlining the show and put on a killer set.

Check out their newly released single In This Together...

Be sure to attend this weeks party which features Oh Land, Icona Pop, and Friends! Oh and ladies… my dear ladies… the ratios at these parties tend to be WAY WAY in our favor. Don’t miss it. - The Downtown Diaries

"Popshop..."

"...However, the real story last night was a lesser known but very promising band called Like Diamonds. The group opened up the show with one of the most diverse and interesting sets I’ve heard in a long time. Someone looked over at me and asked what genre they played, I looked back and said I had no idea. The only word I can use to describe these guys is limitless, their sense of arrangement is fearless as they effortlessly switch from on style to the other from song to song..." - Et Musique Pour Tous

"Popshop Strikes Again! Delivers Solid Monthly Pop Night"

"The Brooklyn-based Like Diamonds opened with show with an indie-disco fusion that was the ideal musical lube for the chaos that ensued thereafter." - The Vinyl District

Bio

Like Diamonds was formed by songwriter Luka Tacon, multi-instrumentalist David Kiss and drummer Justin Hofmann. The trio began to experiment with arrangements and the instrumentation of songs written by Tacon while they searched for new members, which led them to producer Dub Sonata and percussionist Brenden Tacon, both of whom eventually joined the band.
The indie-rock sound the band had originally sought after was cast aside as they pursued a direction that melded a variety of genres including rock, electro, pop and disco. After months of rehearsing and crafting their sound, and with the addition of bassist Gil Dekel, they were content.
Their first few shows included a slot at the electronic music festival Camp Bisco 9, followed by a short tour through the eastern US. The band's fresh approach to pop music coupled with their live show leaves audiences captured by the passion and groove with which they play.
