"Interview with Like the Movies"

Exclusive Interview: Like the Movies
I recently got a chance to interview Like the Movies for this site and am super excited to share it with you. I truly believe Like the Movies is headed for some big things and can’t wait to see their journey unfold. To learn more about this pop band read below then check out their Facebook and Twitter!

Bellaboo: How did Like the Movies form?
Chris: Well, Nick and I were in a different band together and when the band kind of split down the middle Nick and I knew exactly what we wanted to do. Like the Movies was kind of inevitable and had a “why didn’t we do this sooner?” kind of feel. It finally gave us the chance to really be the band we wanted to be.
Bellaboo: Is it difficult being a band when both of you live in different cities?
Chris: Sometimes it’s tough and can slow us down because certain things have to wait until we’re in the same city (wherever that may be haha). On the other hand, it does make us much more productive when we are together.
Nick: Yeah, at times it’s difficult, but we mostly communicate through Skype and phone calls.
Bellaboo: When did you know that music was what you wanted to do?
Chris: For me it was sometime in our last band when we started playing some fun shows and met some really cool people along the way. It just felt right. I never want to do something in life that I don’t enjoy.
Nick: Well, it really didn’t quite hit me at first. Drums came fast to me, but after playing some shows I started to get the feel of things and really liked how it went. From then on I’ve been inspired to play music for people to enjoy and connect with.
Bellaboo: How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard of you?
Chris: We’re the kind of music that makes you want to roll your windows down… and cruise.
Nick: That one is tricky haha, but I honestly would say hooks that will be stuck in your head because people I know who listen to our songs tell me later that they can’t get them out of their heads!

Bellaboo: Tell us about your debut single Bad News.
Chris: Bad News was one of the first songs that Nick and I wrote for LTM. It’s weird cause when I started writing the lyrics all I had was the first line “I’m like a bad idea thought again and again”, and it was originally meant to be about bad luck in relationships. But then we thought about how some relationships are just doomed from the start. The song basically became what it would sound like if every jerk in the world was straight up about being Bad News for girls from the start.

Bellaboo: Do you have any upcoming projects you can tell us about?
Chris: Well, we are currently working on our second single. It’s a song that we are really excited about and we want to get it out very soon so stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitters for updates!
Bellaboo: How do you balance music with school/college?
Chris: College is fun and music is fun, but they aren’t as fun when you put them together haha. I love Florida State and all my friends and people I’ve met there, but it gets tough sometimes to be productive with my music when I have two tests and a paper to write. That being said, I have no intentions of dropping out of school. It’s something that’s important to me and I know I can keep making it work.
Nick: I’m currently still in high school but balance is tricky for me. With water polo, swimming, music, and being social I’m quite busy normally. But I somehow figure it all out and set my priorities straight.
Bellaboo: If you could tour with any band in the world, who would you choose?
Chris: I’d say Maroon 5. I’ve been listening to them for a long time and they just keep getting better and better.
Nick: I would have to go with Chris on that one. They just have so many hits.
Bellaboo: Celebrity crush?
Chris: Selena Gomez. I don’t mean to step on Bieber’s toes or anything, but someday She and I will be together. It’s inevitable.
Nick: Justin Bieber…
Bellaboo: What makes you happy?
Chris: Lots of things! Playing music, our fans, playing music for our fans, college football, puppies, Jesus, popcorn with lots of butter, and traveling.
Nick: So many things. Kittens, food, water polo, traveling, music, God and just having fun with people and spreading love with a positive message.
Bellaboo: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
Chris: LA. Or maybe somewhere in Italy.
Nick: Los Angeles all the way baby!
Bellaboo: What do you think makes a person beautiful?
Chris: Being true to yourself, enjoying life, and living in a way that brings glory to God.
Nick: Just having a personality that stays true to you. You don’t have to be someone else. Someone who just enjoys life and how beautiful and amazing it is. We tend to take life for granted a lot. Don’t reflect on the negatives, look forward to the future and accomplishing your goals and stay determined and dedicated no matter what.
