The Passion for Hip Hop as well as all music has been imbedded in the heart and soul of Carey Darrell Davis B.K.A. “Likewise”. The music that Likewise was inspired to create is full of anointed, catchy and witty lyrics fueled by versatile and ground breaking production.
Carey Davis (Likewise) entered the earth on September 9, 1981 and was raised in the city of Jacksonville Florida. Carey grew up in a very supportive and close nit household with his mother, father and this twin brother. At the age of 7, Carey began to develop an interest in the sound of Hip Hop. Inspired by artists such as “Tribe Called Quest”, “Leaders of the New School” and “Rakim”, Carey began freestyling, battling and writing his own rhymes at the age of 11.
Even though he had a severely intense love of rhyming he would undoubtedly come in contact with a love that far surpasses Hip Hop. On April 3, 1993 he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and, in turn, accepted the call of ministry on his life. After being born again, Likewise was moved to incorporate his two loves together, the love he has for Jesus Christ and the love of Hip Hop. The desire that Likewise possess is to encourage the youth as well as those of age with the message of the Gospel through the conduit of beats and rhymes.
“The Nearest Truth” is the first full-length album from Likewise. The purpose of his first album is to vividly display the love of God and the love we ought to display to one another, saints and sinners alike. Jesus showed and displayed love to everyone he encountered. He also desired to encourage their hearts and heal them and that is the same desire that Likewise has for the ministry that he’s be entrusted.
My Mission Is to minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ, If It wasn't for the purpose of spreading the message of salvation I wouldn't be rapping at all. My target audience is anyone who has breath in their lungs.
