"EP Review"

"Formed in the winter of 2003, these guys are already making heads pop with their highly emotional blend of pop. Singer Mark Holmes twists and turns on stage throwing out tons of energy. With sharp looks, good guitar licks(in the vain of Muse and Radiohead), and a strong melodic vocal style bring Like Yesterday to the top. Top tune is "Brand New"." - Crashin'In.com

Bio

Like Yesterday emerges from the New York City indie rock scene with unique vocals and a guitar-driven soundscape. The band recently opened for well-known New York City act The Walkmen, and also completed their first EP with Producer/Engineer, Paul Mahajan (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV On The Radio, The Liars).

The band members' resumes span a wide range of music acts and genres, including Taking Back Sunday, Lauryn Hill and Macy Gray. Matt Rubano (bass), Mark Holmes (vocals), Dave Holmes (guitar), and Joe Tomino (drums), were working on putting a band together when they encountered the strong songwriting of newcomer, Seva Granik (guitar). As Mark Holmes explains, “I had been looking to put something like this together but didn't know where to start until I met Seva. He had these great songs without any lyrics--I instantly knew he was someone I wanted to work with." Granik's songwriting talent comes together perfectly with lead singer Mark Holmes' piercing, and emotional vocals and the versatility and technical prowess of Rubano, Tomino, and Dave Holmes.

Like Yesterday’s music is driven by emotion and provokes a visceral response from listeners. Granik emphasizes, "I want people to understand that we live this music." It is their honesty, both bitter and sweet, that connects the band to their audience. Mark Holmes explains, "This band is about having the courage to deal with life's most vulnerable moments, and then to actually share those experiences in an intimate way with our audience." Like Yesterday hits their mark drawing in listeners with passion that is unadulterated and genuinely inspiring.
