"Best Tiny Rapper"

"A little shorty doin' big thangz" is how Miami's Lil' Bass, the 9-year-old son of producer DJ Bass, bills himself. Lil' Bass has gotten so popular that he had to sneak in the back door to take this year's FCAT because his fans were going wild. His album continues to sell modestly, and he has had the opportunity to open for Trick Daddy and JT Money as well as perform at a pregame show for a matchup between the Florida Gators and the Georgia Bulldogs football teams. Locally, he has been working the grade-school circuit with 13-year-old Lil Mama and appearing with the Miami Pipeline Girls. His latest singles include "Bass Walk" and "I Wanna." As for where he sees himself in five years, Lil' Bass simply says, "Still a kid, but with a lot more knowledge of the game."

"Lil' Bass: A Shorty Doin' Big Thangz"

What's good 305, it's your boy Renaissance Man back once again with the 411 on another Miami rising star. I know I've been ?M.I.A.? for a minute, but personal reasons have kept me off the scene, which is quite ironic because a personal reason has me right back where I left off. As you know I've interviewed countless artists, some local and some abroad, but none of them have had any sentimental values? until today. Today I go one-on-one with Dade County's own Lil' Bass. Born Melton Pete Bowen, Lil' Bass, 9, is a true product of his environment. An environment that exposed him to music ever since the womb, as his father DJ Bass and mother Angela Bowen represented the Miami hustle while laying the foundation for a city pipeline. I met the family in 1998 and before long I found myself babysitting Lil' Bass along with his 2 younger brothers. Even at the tender age of three, Lil' Bass possessed a presence that always made him the center of attention; especially with the ladies. With his natural talents and growing charisma, Lil' Bass began taking interest in performing. He learned all the latest dance moves and started doing shows at local schools with DJ Bass. This in turn gave him the opportunity to develop a great stage existence, which now includes his older sister and cousin. Over 200 shows later, as well as opening for hip-hop heavyweight Trick Daddy and JT Money, Lil' Bass is creating his own ?pipeline? that leads right to success. His debut single ?I'm A Shorty? was a local hit and his new single ?When I Want To? is receiving positive reviews, so you know I had to prepare the world for a Lil' Bass that keeps getting bigger.?
