Lilia Amar

When music goes beyond sound and makes you feel, that’s when you know you have heard something special. Lilia Amar’s style brings uncommon elements, a sweet raspy tone, on top of piano driven verses. Her approach is new and fresh and with catchy, pop hooks; Lilia’s lyrics are simple and contagious.

Born in Hamburg, Germany, Lilia moved to Fairfax, California when she was only 6 years of age, although it was the tender age of four when she showed an amazing love for dance. With a dad as a musician, it wasn’t surprising that Lilia soon emerged as an exiting singer and has been sharing her Pop/Rock sound for as long as she can remember. If you asked her what her sound is like, she might sheepishly say, Aretha Franklin, but she’s the first to admit that saying so is quite a stretch.

Playing both covers and originals, Lilia steadily works to improve her sound; something that she feels is rapidly getting better. Practicing constantly, she does everything in her power to conquer her craft and is willing to go the distance to make it all happen. Her style coupled with a strong stage presence is already gaining the respect of contemporaries and peers.

On November 18, Lilia performed Amy Winehouse covers in two sold out showcases, at the charming Larkspur Café, holding her own even among very experienced singers. Enthusiastic about moving forward and getting her career off the ground, Lilia is willing to do the work required to get where she wants to go.

With music as one of her greatest passions, her own personal favorite singers are Tom Petty, Ben Harper, Aretha Franklin, Christina Aguilera and Amy Winehouse to name a few. A regular teenager, she loves to celebrate her birthday, enjoys eating noodles, peas and French Fries and most of all loves gummy candy and chocolate that her Grandma sends from Germany. Like every other teenager, she enjoys sitting around with friends, talking, eating, hanging out at the local café drinking Chai Tea, dancing at parties and spending time with her cat Alistair. A young lady with many talents, she’s also well trained in Ballet, has taken hip-hop, belly dancing and salsa and she loves to draw.

Now, just sweet 16, Lilia signed with Imerge Records, an independent record label and is anticipating the release of her new single “Answer Me.” Although still quite young, Lilia is definitely a well-put together package, complete with voice, heart, beauty and talent.
