Lilian Okore

The crowd cheered as she gracefully floated towards the announcer at the Nile Hotel in Kampala, Uganda. They brought in the jeweled crown, a bouquet of flowers, and a sash that read: Miss Uganda, 1997. Lillian Acom, 22 years old, looked into the TV cameras, "Thank you", she said, then she cleared her throat and added, " I thank the Father above."
That night defined her life by proving to her the faithfulness of God, showing her the innumerable opportunities, and increasing her chutzpah level. She went on to compete in the 47th Final Competition of Miss World held in Baie Lazare, Seychelles on November 22, 1997. On her return to Uganda, she participated in the "Miss New Model International" contest in Cairo, Egypt and emerged "Miss Congeniality". The snowball effect was evident as she hosted Charity Balls, advocated for the traumatized children of war in northern Uganda under the banner of World Vision, and appeared in a kaleidoscope of events all over Uganda where the press gave her no rest. Despite the ebb and flow of fame, that has proven devastating to many beauty queens, Lilian emerged stronger. She escaped snares by fighting the good fight of faith in the Lord Jesus.

Her parents, Paul and Priscilla Erongot, were so grateful when they saw their little girl graduate from Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and French (Yes, she speaks French) A Masters degree in Diplomatic Studies from the University of Westminster, London and a Diploma in advanced French at the Sorbonne University in Paris, France. But most of all, Lilian was deeply grateful for God's mercy through out her challenging life in Europe. One of her songs, Mercy, was written during her Europe years.

Though Lilian effortlessly connects with all kinds of people partly because of her out-going character, her large family of four sisters and three brothers, her pastoring New Road Church in Pennsylvania ( www.newrdchurch.com) some of her friends may argue that her participation in various beauty pageants and modeling events, further honed her public relation skills. Whatever the case, she is a pleasant addition to the army of the Lord and carries an anointing that breaks barriers in order to unite nations through praise and worship.
