"The Forgiven One," by Lil La La
On some occasions, I come across a debut CD which impresses me. This release by Lil La La fits into that category. It was recommended to me by BrotheRedge, who had copped the CD from Lil La La when he met her at a function in Cali last year.


I admit that I was surprised to learn that the beats are produced by Lil La La herself. So not only does she spit the fyre, she arranges the vibes as well. For a femcee, that's impressive. Well, for rap artists in general that's rare. So couple that with the fact that I pretty much can vibe to all of the selections, and you've got something special here.


I like the myx of artists, like one cat that raps like a oozie, and Lil La La's younger brother who even adds to the flava. But Lil La La comes into her own as well on the joint. They sport a danceable vibe, and straight up God-glorifying lyrics. I guess if I had to pick a few favorites, they'd be "Avenues," "Pop Yo Colla," and "Make U Halla." You'll find yourself singing, "Lil La La make u halla..." like the chorus throughout the day, like I do!


Lil La La shared with me recently that she has another joint droppin' this spring (2004), so I can't wait to cop that one.

This is one of the hottest new album out today. Most people wouldn't believe such a big album could come from that sweet voice of Lil La La until they pop in the CD. This album is so hot. I didn't even expect it to be as hot as it was. This girl can really flow, and shes representing Christ. It gets no better than that. GET THE ALBUM!!! My favorite song is We Ain't Different featuring Cali's own Dedge P. Great production, and tight lyrics. Can't ask for much more. - JW

nominate this album for album of the year! This is one of the hottest albums I've heard in a long time. From the jump the tracks banged. "Groovin" a really hot. Hitz produced and killed that track while Lil La La did her thing. Other stand out tracks was "Battle Zone" "Praise and Worship" and "Who's Different." Dedge P got off on "Who's Different." Then you got 2 songs with K-Drama on it. The great Tony Stone produced 2 tracks. Maestro Movement produced some major heat. Overall I feel this album will put Lil La La in the same catagory as Cross Movement, T-Bone, Knine, and Da Truth. If you don't get this album then your sleeping on it. - Ricky W
