Lilo Peaks

BandAlternativePop

A mish-mashy-mush of musical mayhem which will
a) stir up emotions, and b) take the listener on an intimate, yet dangerous adventure.

Thus, her songs are both risky and grounded, and her performances are passionate. The genre? An alternative, acoustic, electronic mangle of pop, folk and rock.

Biography

While many artists strive to take risks, Alicia Lineham is one who thrives at doing so.

This is why her sound is constantly pushing and pulling the boundaries of contemporary genres as she twists the expected into something entirely unique. From humble beginnings in the Manawatu as a highly excitable school student, Alicia has developed into a confident, grounded (and still quite excitable) musician. While she has performed alongside the likes of Che Fu and Rosita Vai, her sound has an indie folk/pop feel, influenced by a range of artists including Feist, Mt Kimbie, Kimbra and The Paper Kites.

Currently in her second year studying Popular music at the University of Auckland, she continues to refine and enhance her individual identity as a musician. She describes herself as an anti-chameleon, constantly changing colour against the background of her peers.

Lyrics

When We Dry Up

Written By: Alicia Lineham

We were young, once
But the greens will fade if left out in the sun
Too long
The heat of the sun

We had love once
It will crack the paint if left out in the sun
Too long
The heat of the sun

We had fun, once
But the swing will rust if left out in the sun
Too long
The heat of the sun

We were dumb once
But the back will burn if left out in the sun
Too long
The heat of the sun

You got to…
Give it up, give it up
Stepping over
Give it up, give it up
Stepping over

We were young

Fruitless

Written By: Alicia Lineham

Winter has never departed
Yet we keep on singing songs
That belong under the sun

Leaves have gone from this garden
Yet we keep on biding time
For what isn’t now alive

Why we keep on dancing?

Round these apple cores
Live your life to leave it when you feel some more
Round these apple cores

Frost has numbed both our left feet
Yet we keep skipping along
Like we long to carry on

Grass is wet as statues weep
Yet we keep on burning tears
Like we’ve taught ourselves for years

Didn’t mean to take you for a ride

Round these apple cores
Live your life to leave it when you feel some more
Round these apple cores
There’s nothing like feeling comfortable

Keep dancing, keep keep dancing
Keep dancing, keep keep dancing
Keep prancing, keep on slanting down
We go round and round

Round these apple cores
Live your life to leave it when you feel some more
Round these apple cores
There’s nothing like feeling comfortable
