BandAlternativeSinger/Songwriter

The lyrics are a blend of poetry and philosophy. The music has a strong rythmic component, so present in the culture I grew up in, and the moody and dreamy quality of the music I love (Radiohead, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, etc)

Biography

Music meets philosophy and poetry.

Lina Quesada was born into a household of two sociology professors and a world of ideas and philosophy that she learned to love at a very young age. At the same time a natural talent for music was developing and these two elements finally collided in her song writing, which began at age 7 with songs for school musicals and family performances.

At age 20, Lina moved to Toronto Canada by herself, with a handful of original songs and an acceptance letter from the renowned Humber College music program.

Toronto had big things in store for her and in her short career Lina has shared stage with relevant names in the local scene like Rick Lazar and Irshad Khan. She’s had several of her songs in rotation as well as features and interviews in Internet and college radio stations.

After briefly fronting the band “Sweet Thursday” with producers Todd Dafoe and J. Miller in 2003, she returned to her own singer songwriter project taking her show all around town and recently teaming up with producer Ron Lopata (Simon Wilcox, Julie Black, Ron Sexsminth) to record her latest demo.

Lina currently resides in downtown Toronto where she spends her free time reading about politics or philosophy or enjoying Toronto’s art and music scene which continue to inspire and contribute different ideas, shapes and colours to her creative endeavours.

Lyrics

Kaleidoscope

Written By: Lina Quesada

Come here. Clocks that speak from the wall and keep on saying I'm just a fool to waste my time.
Time that doesn't run anymore. run out minutes that already were stuck in my head.

Bring me up, bring me down to the sides and around.
Where I see colorless and I speak with no sound.
Let me sing what I mean once the clock's gone all the way down.

HEAVEN IS ON EARTH NOW. HELL'S IN MY OWN MIND.
LOVE MAKES A FOOL OF THE MOST BRILLIANT MAN,
IN THIS KALEIDOSCOPE, I SEE NO SHAPE.

Ancient faces stuck in the mirrors. Worn out pictures of what once was stuck on the walls.
Clocks that keep on stealing time ruthlessly, leaving only the memories. What good is that?

Crazy

Written By: Lina Quesada

Sometimes no matter what, it still feels life’s just passing by.
A play of mirrors and today I’m not under good light.
And it’s driving me crazy…

Aching for something that I want to figure out, not need.
Like water, it slips away and I’m not good at games like this.

I can’t see neutral if how much I like myself depends on what I see.
Heads I hang on my walls, mirrors that only show what I want to see.

Crazy….

Don’t want to be left alone
But I want to be whole with myself.
