"Songs make you feel"....

…..says singer/songwriter, chanteuse/compositeur, Linda Pouliot as she shares her renditions of songs from the Great American Songbook, blues greats, and French Classics. Her heartfelt performances leave audiences throughout New England wanting more.

* Recipient of a NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE COUNCIL on the ARTS AWARD, for French standards and N E S T (NEW ENGLAND STATES TOURING PROGRAM)...

...Pouliot’s sets include love songs as early as the 1700’s to modern songs by Madeleine Peyroux, Amy Winehouse, Norah Jones, and others.

"It all started when I was a little girl when my parents love for music in a mix of genres by Edith Piaf, Count Basie, the great Ray Charles, and Gershwin tunes became my first loves.  And in 1978, when a dear friend gave me a box of 78 records, I was hooked on the great torch singers Billie Holiday and Bessie Smith. "

"My dream came true," are her words when describing the beautiful musical experiences she’s had, performing with some of the Seacoast Area's best known musicians, who complement her with arrangements of some of the world’s most beautiful songs.

She is  touched by the beauty in people’s response to her delivery.  “It makes me so happy when a 21 year old says to me, 'I love Bessie Smith, thank you for singing her songs,' or when elderly people are tapping their feet and singing along to a Gershwin tune., or Edith Piaf's, La Vie En Rose.  Music brings people of all ages together, and the connection is just beautiful!”

The Northern New Hampshire native has been singing ever since she can remember. She took the stage in 2006, when she moved to the beautiful Seacoast area, and her dream has taken her to: The Top Of The Hub, Prudential Center Boston, MA;  Ryles Jazz Club, Cambridge, MA; La Kermesse Franco- Americaine, Biddeford, Maine; Franco Center for the Arts, Lewiston, Maine and other New England establishments, along with festivals in Maine and New Hampshire.

Pouliot’s experiences bring with them the gift of song, and in 2007, the words and melodies came together.  Since then she has been writing and recording original songs of;  jazz, blues French jazz, cabaret, folk and country.

Included in her first jazz show were two French favorites;  Edith Piaf’s, ” La Vie En Rose,” and a version of Josephine Baker’s, ” J’attendrai.”  The response was great, and with more requests, she learned some of the world's most beautiful French love songs.  She is writing French songs, and her original, “La Tradition Du Beau Dimanche” tells the story of a beautiful memory of Sundays with her family.  Her song, ” L’Amour De Nos Enfants,” speaks of the love she has for her two children.

Pouliot says, “I’ve never been to Paris, but Paris lives in my heart.  My father served a tour of duty there during World War II, and although he brought back with him the tragedies of war that affect so many of our soldiers and their families, he brought back something very special too, his love for the arts.  My mother loved the arts too.  I learned Edith Piaf from her and my brother and I inherited their love for a culture rich with music, art, and traditions that make us who we are.”
