BandPopAdult Contemporary

Linda is an ASCAP member who writes pop ballads (music and lyrics) suitable for such artists as Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Bette Midler and Whitney Houston.

Linda discovered a passion for music at the tender age of 4, when she began piano lessons. Over the years she learned to play the organ, accordian, clarinet, guitar, trumpet, drums...any instrument she could get her hands on. When she was 19 she began writing songs and has continued to do so ever since. Her strongest influence was Barbra Streisand. Although Linda is not a singer by trade, she was taken by Ms. Streisand's vocal style and choice of songs. Without question, Ms. Streisand was the most powerful influence on Linda's style of writing. Linda's songs reflect her own life experiences and are deeply passionate.

Fear Got In The Way

Written By: Linda Donovan Olson

VERSE 1 Once upon a dream, far as I could see
Stars were like a thousand angel eyes smiling down on me.
I could paint the sky, change the light of day.
I could do most anything til fear got in the way.

VERSE 2 My charming prince appeared like magic, unaware
He could leave me breathless just standing on the stair.
His eyes were hypnotic, and my knees grew weak. I wanted him to stay
But could not find the words to speak - my fear got in the way.

BRIDGE Where is it written dreams cannot come true?
Am I not in charge of my own destiny?
My heart may pound when the stakes are high,
Got to leave the ground if I want to fly.
Look at me! I am free!

VERSE 3 Free to live my dreams. I see it clearly now.
It’s not about what’s possible but what I will allow.
Oh, what a feeling running through my veins
That I can do most anything
As long as I remember, I swear I will remember,
Not to let my fear get in the way.
