BandPop

I'm not a band. I'm just a songwriter. And I only write the lyrics. Which makes me a poet, I guess. I'm just doing this so I can enter songs in the Great American Songwriting contest electronically.

Biography

The genre of music that I listen to the most is Americana, or alt country, or whatever. Lucinda Williams, Shelby Lynne, stuff like that. So, while I don't write music, when I hear my lyrics in my head they have a vaguely outside-the-mainstream country feel to them. But some of them would probably work as pop songs, and sometimes I write things that veer toward Contemporary Christian, so...there you go.

Lyrics

God Did Good

Written By: Linda Stone

When you get here the way that we did,
by the long and winding road,
it just makes it that much sweeter
to know you’re finally home.

So I wake up every morning
so grateful I could cry
for the coffee that you bring me
and the kindness in your eyes.

God did good…
He brought me you.
Just what I needed
God only knew.

Dark dreams that bring my past back,
with the anger and the fear,
are fading in the distance…
that pain can’t find me here.

Therapy helped a little,
but God helped more.
He showed me what love looked like;
He brought you to my door.

God did good…
He brought me you.
Just what I needed
God only knew.

That Ship Sailed

Written By: Linda Stone

What I wish I'd done
Is a tricky game to play.
One change changes everything
That led me to today.

Married the wrong man,
But I sure had the right kids;
Moved to the wrong city,
But I did meet the right friends.

That ship sailed
Long time ago;
It's not comin' back
That much I know.

Wish I'd had a baby
With the true love of my life;
Wish I didn't need this job so bad
So I'd have more time to write.

Can't go back and fix it;
Wouldn't want to if I could.
Gotta live where I am now
And be grateful for the good.

That ship sailed
Long time ago;
It's not comin' back
That much I know.

Wonder and Glory

Written By: Linda Stone

How original is that --
To talk about love?
Love's been talked about
More than enough
But what-the-hell else
Am I gonna do --
Can't focus on anything;
Nothin' but you.

Wonder and glory,
Passion and lust.
Slow-burning fire
With occasional gusts.

To love and be loved
By a good-hearted man
With a deep sexy voice
And amazing hands --
It's all I could want
And it's all I can stand;
Livin' my life
With a good-hearted man.

Wonder and glory,
Passion and lust.
Slow-burning fire
With occasional gusts.

Romantic bliss
Makes for pretty bad art;
Nothin' poetic
'Bout a happy heart.
It's all your fault;
It's the price I pay --
Can't catch the blues
Cause you're in my way.

Wonder and glory,
Passion and lust.
Slow-burning fire
With occasional gusts.
(repeat chorus)
