"Lindsey Mae-EP"

Lindsey Mae, an 19 year old girl with a gorgeous voice from Saratoga, NY, is well on her way to becoming the next pop sensation and a common name among both young and old in every household. With only an EP under her belt she has already been compared to popular female vocalists such as Tristan Pettyman and A Fine Frenzy, who she shares producer Hal Cragin with.
Hal Cragin is widely known for producing the legend Iggy Pop, and with such a resume it's hard to be surprised at the quality behind Lindsey's first release, you would expect nothing less from the man behind the man himself.
Lindsey's soft and sweet vocals are a perfect match for the beautiful guitar, and although the chords are simple the notes bring an element of elegance to the songs, proving that music doesn't have to be complicated to be good.
The young Miss Mae picked up a guitar at the early age of 15 and in just 4 years has written over 50 songs about life and love, bringing a refreshingly bright and young innocence to a world so full of negativity and sorrow.
“I tell stories from what i see and what i feel, for all the world to hear, understand, and relate to. Music is all about the story behind the writer, inside the noise, between the written words. It’s about the story that comes with it and the one you make of it. It is the spaces left empty between the lines for you to fill with your own story, to finish the story. That is what music is…one big never-ending story.”
(Lindsey Mae)
How old is she again!?
She has already inspired me to pick up my guitar, dust it off, and give it a go again after years of neglect. With her whole life ahead of her it is truly amazing what she has done in just 4 years, and there is no question she will be inspiring people for many more.
With her light-hearted and sugar sweet songs she can be compared to Colbie Caillat or even a female Jason Mraz.
All the best to Lindsey Mae, not that I think she will need it. - Music She Blogged

"Introducing Lindsey Mae"

From time to time an artist comes to your attention and startles you. When 19-year old singer/songwriter Lindsey Mae came to my attention I was immediately blown away by her maturity. It's the maturity in her songwriting and in her voice that is remarkable.

Her debut EP is a collection of songs so refined in writing and performance that you would expect to hear it from an artist on her third or fourth record. The EP, produced by Hal Cragin (A Fine Frenzy, Iggy Pop), emphasizes Mae's songwriting as well as her deep, souful vocals.

If you are a fan of Brandi Carlile, you will probably embrace the Saratoga, NY native Mae with open arms.

"She may be young in years, but not in talent"

The talented singer/songwriter who will perform at the Dogfish Head brew pub in downtown Rehoboth
Beach on Saturday may be the youngest person in the room.
Lindsey Mae is an 18-year-old performer who lives just outside Saratoga Springs, N.Y. She picked up an
acoustic guitar when she was 15 and began writing lyrics and music almost immediately. She played coffee
shops throughout upstate New York while in high school. Since signing with manager Randy Eisen's
company, her touring schedule has stretched to Boston, New York City and beyond.
Mae is promoting her newly-released EP, an eponymous recording featuring fives tunes with a gentle pop
sheen. The original songs include "Cable Car" and "Paper Mache."
"Each song shows a different side to me, and a different story," she said. "After just three years, I've grown a
lot of strength in songwriting and performing by using my life experiences to propel me forward."
While some of the music is reminiscent of Jewel, that performer could almost be considered a heritage artist
to Mae's generation. Her biggest influence? KT Tunstall, who is best known for her 2005 single "Black Horse
and the Cherry Tree." Mae was also influenced by artists such as Norah Jones, Tristan Prettyman, Missy
Higgins and A Fine Frenzy.
The EP was produced by Hal Cragin, who has produced (and played bass on) records by both A Fine
Frenzy and Iggy Pop.
"Music is all about the story behind the writer, inside the noise, between the written words," Mae said. "It's
about the story that comes with it and the one you make of it. It's the spaces left empty between the lines for
you to fill with your own story, to finish the story." - News Journal

"Lindsey Mae"

Lindsey Mae is definitely an artist to watch. The 18-year-old singer-songwriter has been performing throughout Upstate New York since she was 15. Her breathtaking five song self-titled EP release was produced by Hal Cragin (A Fine Frenzy/Iggy Pop). Full of emotionally introspective songs with fitting musical accompaniment showcasing her soft, yet at times rugged vocals, Mae is one singer who is bound to make a splash soon.

A mix of acoustic pop, Mae's airy voice brings comparison to that of fellow singer-songwriters Colbie Caillat, Serena Ryder and Meiko. A remarkable release for any teen, what makes Mae stand out is her seemingly ageless wisdom within each track. The lyrics behind her songs are deep and filled with tales of love, loss and the confusion of both.

First track, "Cable Car," has a country vibe as Mae sings of heartbreak. "So call me back or call me crazy/'Cause only your love can save me now," she says. A strong storyteller, Mae draws the listener in with every word sung.

"Vitals" is a rugged and edgier track with darker guitar accompaniment. Her wavering vocals only assist in getting her emotion across within each lyric. "Papier Mache" may be my favorite track on the EP. A light ballad with soft piano and guitar intro that begs comparison to the refreshingly relaxed style of Jack Johnson, Mae's eased singing style asks for more than just one listen.

With a solid release at such a young age, I can only expect to hear much more of Lindsey Mae in the years to come. Be sure to visit her on MySpace to hear some tracks off the EP. - You Sing, I Write
