"Boston Phoenix Review"

Miss Starr has been a heartbeat of consistency in the pill's dirty Allston backstory for the better part of a decade.

Now she leads a new project of lust-ridden 3am power-pop, bearing her nomenclature and giving the Protokoll boys, producer Ben Greenspan and Danny O'Neill, another reason to grace our Great Scott stage. Fake It is Starr's first proper release with this ensemble, and standout single "Love And Death In The City" is a rock and roll joyride through empty old west highways, marrying the modern untucked pop flair of Rilo Kiley with the amped-up '70s-era guitar propulsion of Heart. It's a weekend Vegas bender of a record all tightly weaved around Starr's classic songwriting tales of false hope, young love, and endless nights spend at the Barrows. -Michael Marotta, The Boston Phoenix - Michael Marotta (Music Editor) - The Boston Phoenix

"Weekly Dig Review"

Lindsey Starr’s new 6-song EP Fake It may be her first release under her own name, but it has the tight, polished sound of a firmly-established indie/pop powerhouse. This should come as no surprise to anyone who’s been following Ms. Starr’s trajectory, which has included stints in local favorites like Barnicle and the Daily Pravda, as well as earlier incarnations as a band leader with the Chemical Smiles and Retrosleeper.

The EP, which was produced and recorded with a crack backing band including former and current members of Young Adults, the Mules, the Needy Visions and Protokoll, is an infectious and mature collection of americana-tinged indie rock and roll. The lyrical content touches on classic tear-in-your-beer subjects including loneliness, confusion, apathy and substance abuse. - John Von Bittrich, The Weekly Dig - John Von Bittrich - The Weekly Dig

Still working on that hot first release.
