Bio

Webster's dictionary defines a LINNET as a small brown bird sought after for it's melodious song.

Essentially, the name LINNET means SONG BIRD.

Those who know Singer, Songwriter, Actress, LINNETTE HARRIGAN, would say this name fits her like a glove.

From an early age, this New York City Native, began singing in church and school plays.

"My mother was a huge music fan. She would play music of superior vocalists like MINNIE RIPERTON, NANCY WILSON, DONNA SUMMER, and DONNY HATHAWAY to name a few. Mother would also take me along with her to concerts and Broadway Shows," Linnette says.

Professional study would soon follow, as LINNETTE became more and more mesmerized by the music she heard as a child.

For many years, LINNETTE studied pop music and classical voice privately with various professionals. Legendary, Broadway Star, GEORGE MERRITT, Opera Diva, BERNICE HALL and famed Vocal Coach, LACONIA SMEDLEY were among her instructors.

A spinto-soprano with a 3 1/2 octave range and powerhouse belt vocal abilities, Linnette started landing jobs after college. LINNETTE worked as a session/background singer as well as an opening act for such artists as ROY AYERS, R. KELLY, and SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT.

Additional studies at AMERICAN ACADEMY OF DRAMATIC ARTS also paid off and opportunities followed when LINNETTE was chosen to join the ACTOR'S EQUITY ASSOCIATION in 2004.

She then began travelling the nation and abroad in such musicals as "FREEDOM TRAIN" & "AIN'T MISBEHAVIN."

Broadway Legend, MAURICE HINES was particularly impressed with Linnettes vocal talents at an audition for his Broadway Show -" HOTT FEET" (a musical featuring the music of EARTH, WIND AND FIRE). HINES considered LINNETTE for a lead role and brought her in to sing and meet EWF founder MAURICE WHITE.

"Although I did not get the part, I will always cherish this experience," LINNETTE says about meeting HINES and WHITE.

TODAY, Linnette continues to lend her talents to top projects and stays involved with community organizations like the church.

Most recently, LINNETTE recorded a song with Universal Music Producer, CHIBA ANTOINE for major motion picture, THE LOVE GURU.

A debut CD is soon to come featuring this Song bird's melodic Pop, Jazz & Gospel vocals.

A song tribute to the late Jazz Singer/Musician, JON LUCIEN ( who was Linnette's cousin) is also on the agenda.
