"Review of E.P, American Idle"

A follow-up from last year’s ‘Pop Idle’ release, this local post-rock outfit are developing an acute sound, putting them far away from anything you’ve heard before. Clearly those masters of the genre Mogwai have been a big influence on the band, but only as an omniscient presence – watching over this trio as they utilise various pedals and effects to make their own recipe for powerful, melodic and predominantly lyricless music. You can listen to first single ‘Galbras’ and download their first EP online. (JC) - The Brighton Source

"Review of Debut E.P, Pop Idle."

It seems this local trio may in fact be smarter than a pack of wild cats. Here’s an EP bursting with promise and what sounds like a similarly bursting pedal board. A post-rock band with influences from Mogwai, but a sound distinctly their own. A lack of structure to the songs creates the occasional unexpected turn into distortion wonderland, but in this case, that’s not a bad thing at all. ‘Twenty one, Thirty one’ is track of the record, order in chaos defined. "Review of Debut E.P, Pop Idle."

8/10
Considering 'Pop Idle' is LASTIA's debut E.P it oozes confidence. Their ability to simmer down into intricate melodies before a sharp, distorted drop can be likened to post-rock kings Mogwai - an obvious influence here. A three-piece with what sounds like an army of distortion pedals at their disposal makes for an intense ride, dabbling in both the serene and the boisterous, they possess the ability to craft songs that truely inspire. - Rocksound

Bio

Lions are a 3 piece, bassless, electronic edged post rock group from Bexhill On Sea. They've been active for little over 18 months and released 2 E.Ps, 'Pop Idle' and 'American Idle'.

The influences of this band are eclectic and not worth listing, but they are often compared to Mogwai. Their first E.P was awarded 8/10 by Rocksound Magazine (July 2010) and their second E.P was released in a very limited edition batch of 50 in individual, hand painted recycled card board cases. All of Lions back catalogue is available to download for free online as they believe that music is a necessity, not a commodity.

Here is a review of their second E.P from Brighton based magazine, The Source;
