""Demolicious" Review - 2008"

Raucous and raunchy...this Milton Keynes based five piece have already managed to get themselves banned by Channel 4 s unsigned bands website for having an inappropriate name (I kid you not). LIONSEX boast a frontman with the moniker Jef Leppard and influence wise there is a clear nod to the likes of GnR, Crue, The Stones, The Wildhearts and Hanoi Rocks to name just a few. With so many new UK acts coming along that simply want to appeal to the Download audience its refreshing to hear a band that have a great attitude, a great look and a real kick-ass vibe...from what I have heard so far Lionsex are definitely worthy of further investigation --Dean Pedley - HardRockHouse.com - HardRockHouse.com

""GET IT" Album Review"

The road has been a long one with many a twist and turn, but Lionsex have come out relatively unscathed and now with an album to boot. Titled “Get It”, the album is practically shouting out for fans to grab a copy since it’s release. Sporting a pink rip and a parental advisory warning on the cover, it’s Lionsex all over on it’s front, but then again, even these lads will say it’s not just about the look, which is exactly what we’re checking out.

The album’s title track is the first number to chip in it’s two-cents and lays down the general Lionsex feel, grizzled vocals, simple but big riffs forming the backdrop and the addition of a hooky chorus...completing a neat introduction to dip into before taking on the rest of the Cd.

Following up in the list are M.I.A and Too Good that fit in a similar niche but a few tracks on and the album begins to carve out an identity for itself. For one, bringing on a bit of a chug-a-lug, fuel-injected, hard rock mentality is “Smokin’ Out the Neighbourhood” that racks up high with both an energetic rock n’ roll tempo and the laid back subject matter of having a good smoke to relax, while the track literally winds down itself as it finishes.

After that, filling out the light-hearted anthem slot is “Nobody Said It Was Gonna Be Easy”, chiming in with a calmer disposition than what would usually be expected from the Lionsex lads. Still, the break from the norm is what the album needs, and the same goes for Rip-Off Britain, though it’s not too delicate, the deep veined blues riffs and beats form another track with a lot of character and one that’s been drawing out a good deal of head-banging over this end.

In a nutshell, the album has a fair amount of character to it, with a lot of the newer tracks having their unique vibes, though people who have been listening to the band for a good while will be welcoming some good old Lionsex rock n’ roll with the short but punchy likes of Rocket 2 Ur Heart.

The album is a good piece of work as would be expected from a showboat band like Lionsex and a good step up from their Demolicious Ep. All in all, if you like your rock n’ roll with a dash of rebelliousness, old school riffs and big cats on heat then why not give it a whirl?

Bio

LIONSEX are a hard rocking outfit from Milton Keynes, UK.

Blending the sound of classics such as Motley Crue, Marilyn Manson, Guns N Roses and Pearl Jam with a vibrant modern edge, LIONSEX have all you could ever want in your favourite band.

We have been in existence since late 2007 and have recently released our debut album, GET IT, recorded with the team who have worked on Bullet For My Valentine's first three albums (as well as Trivium and up and coming UK rap-metallers Idiom) and are due to appear in the next issue of CLASSIC ROCK magazine in the UK. The album was released on 8th December 2009 on our own label, Roar Power Records.

The band have played extensively around the UK in the past two years building up support and playing with acts like Spit Like This, Towers of London, Adam Bomb, Hollywood Tease and Japanese Voyeurs.

"GET IT" was produced and engineered by Matthew Bond, who has not only worked with Bullet on their 3 albums to date, is also songwriter and guitarist in up and coming Welsh metallers The Dirty Youth, and was mixed at Nott In Pill Studios in Newport by Jeff Rose and Martin Ford, both of whom have been part of Brit metal legends Dub War and Skindred. Jeff and Martin have worked not only with Bullet For My Valentine and Skindred but also mixed Trivium's last album "Shogun". Jeff and Martin (commonly known as "Ginge") gave the LIONSEX album their much sought after talents and really helped to bring their sound to life.

During the past year LIONSEX have played all over the UK at venues such as THE LONDON BORDERLINE, THE PITZ (MILTON KEYNES), THE CRAUFORD ARMS (MK), THE GOLDEN CROSS (COVENTRY), THE ROADHOUSE (MANCHESTER) and supported bands such as TOWERS OF LONDON and SPIT LIKE THIS.

We also played as second headliner at the AMEX Festival in Spain last June.
