Bio

Lion Star Sound was conceived in the spring of 2004 in the midst of a series of insprirational shows and realizations. Created with the intent of bringing music to the people and bringing those people together in oneness, its founding members spent 2004 focusing and building momentum for a tremendous 2005, sharing stages and spaces with upcoming and legendary musical figures.
Now in 2006 Lion Star Sound has evolved into a uniquely complete act, with new members and even more of a universal sound. Any show can contain up to 5 turntables, live instrumentation, vocals including emcees and singers, with toasters keeping the crowd engaged and lively. Lion Star’s new phase has opened the doors to new musical spaces while still maintaining the mobile vibes, solid roots mission—the beginning foundation for the group. Based with the Jamaican tradition in mind, the Lion Star experience not only delves deeply into reggae through conscious roots, dub and dancehall but also balances the branches with many other musical forms including but not limited to downtempo, world, hip-hop and electronica--with the blend selected and based upon the mood and feeling of an evening, making every show and each DJ set unique in itself. These elements make Lion Star Sound adaptable to all vibrations and environments, and have enabled the group to perform at some of Colorado’s most premier, distinctive and original venues. On the home front, Lion Star holds regular weekly and monthly spots, and was selected as the Rocky Mountain Bullhorn’s reader’s choice for best DJ act of 2005. Equally respectable are the groups which Lion Star has been able to play alongside: legendary groups such as The Abyssinians, Steel Pulse, Yami Bolo, Midnite, Cannon and Lion of Judah and John Brown’s Body plus local Fort Collins favorites like Peace Officer, 12 Cents for Marvin, Orooni, Listen, Wasabi and Prism.
