"GRITZ Review-Cradle to the Grave 3/06"

Man, oh man, these guys are good. Say you long for the tasty slide of Duane Allman? Well don’t we all? Joe Pitts seems to really channel Skydog at times on slide, lead and resonophonic guitar, and his vocals are very easy on the ear as well. Darrell Davis on guitar, Al Hagood on bass and Bryan Blankenship on percussion round out Liquid Groove Mojo. The music here is all good. Not a slacker o the disc, with outstanding cuts including the title track, as well as “Aces High/ Deuces Low” and a great Warren Haynes penned t rack, “If Heartaches Were Nickels.” If you love the Allmans/Haynes/ Mule vibe, as I do, Liquid Groove Mojo is for you.

"CTG"

"Cradle to the Grave" really contains all the trademarks of a magnificent Southern-Blues-Jam-Rock album. Bluesy rockers, full guitars, magnificent solos, brilliant hooks, a lot of slide, great songs and a lot of jam feel. This album is an overriding output and takes second place to nothing.

"LGM"

Liquid Groove Mojo from Arkansas sounds like a synthesis of Gov’t Mule (without keyboards!), the Allman Brothers… and Tishamingo… In addition Joe Pitts is one of the hottest slide guitarists in the business. He is reminiscent of Warren Haynes and Tim Brooks.

"LGM 2005"

Storm Warning is blues par excellence. The guitars surf on the heavy foundation, crying and complaining to themselves from the pickups. The best piece of the song is working towards the brilliant refrain: storm warning…in your eyes.

"On LGM's Cradle to the Grave"

Nicely laid back with lots of opportunities for great guitar playing. Sometimes slow and dreamy, sometimes forceful and substantial. Delicious bluesy guitar
playing, lovely slow vocals and a sound that is both timeless and contemporary.

Bio

Liquid Groove Mojo is one of Arkansas’ top bands. These veteran musicians have been together for over four years with hundreds of live shows under their belts. They have a live CD to their credit and have recently released internationally their last effort "Cradle to the Grave", to rave reviews. The album has topped the European Indie charts and is receiving wide play on internet radio. In September 2006, LGM has released a limited edition CD, "Acoustically Challenged", an all acoustic set, recorded live in Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas. A very rare occurance, Acoustically Challenged shows the band stripped down to the bare essentials, as raw and unplugged as they have ever been. In October of 2006, LGM toured Europe, visiting the Netherlands, Poland, Belgium and Italy. They played to SOLD OUT shows all over Europe, and brought their brand of blues/rock jam to the people across the big pond. Scheduled to go back to Europe in 2007, LGM will bring more music to the masses, along with a new studio album due out in Fall 07. LGM has signed with Kijam Records for the long haul.

Combining blues with rock fusion, these guys can swing from heavy, soulful blues to an almost blues/rock-southern feel. Liquid Groove Mojo has been compared to bands like The Black Crowes, Arc Angels and Gov’t Mule. The band has appeared at the Crossroads Musical Exposition and the International Blues Challenge as well as touring the mid-south. They have shared the stage with artists such as Eric Gales, Michael Burks, Foreigner, Anthony Gomes, KWS, Col. Bruce Hampton and many more.

Liquid Groove Mojo is Joe Pitts and Darrell Davis on guitars. Pitts and Davis played well over 600 shows together before putting Liquid Groove Mojo together. In addition to the road time this pair has logged, they also show off their traditional training. Pitts has studied music at Berklee College of Music and Davis at the University of Arkansas.

Rounding out the band are bassist Al Hagood and drummer Bryan Blankenship, described as one of the tightest rhythm sections in the region. The four of them, when tied together musically, really show their influences. The band pulls from, funk, soul, blues and rock. Monstrous guitar tones, soaring slide guitar work, and soulful vocals round out this quartet’s musical abilities. Prolific songwriting makes this bands’ sound timeless as well as contemporary.
