"Eligh Ft Brother Ali and Lisa Ahlstrom"

A member of Cali’s famed Living Legends crew (which also includes MURS and The Grouch) and a prolific solo artist in his own right, Eligh should, by all rights, already be on your radar. Ever the considerate artist, however, the rap vet (and first-time featuree) gives sleepy heads a much-needed Wake Up call on this cut off solo set numero doce. Over his own syncopated percussion and spacey synth murmurs, the headliner showcases a flow so sharp it might lop your ear off if you listen to it wrong. Well, OK, that might be a slight exaggeration – regardless, his constantly shifting tempos and melodic delivery make for an adrenaline-pumping listen. Rhymesayers mainstay Brother Ali handles guest duties, waxing poetic about the domestic life in a characteristically engaging middle 16, and singer Lisa Ahlstrom ties the record together with some certifiably chill chorus vocals. If you’re digging Wake Up‘s eclectically fresh style, you can find plenty more where this came from on Eligh’s Grey Crow LP, released November 9, and available now in stores and online.

Bio

LISA AHLSTROM is a scandinavian singer songwriter from Finland, currently residing in Los Angeles. Her music is honest and eclectic ranging from acoustic folk to electronic dance with a hint of pop overshadowing every tune. Although Ahlstrom considers herself an L.A. transplant by now, her nordic roots are clearly still in tact.

Ahlstrom feels that music is "an audio experience of human emotion" and uses her music to address bigger matters of life both melodically and lyrically. For Lisa there is less focus on what is being made or what category of music it may or may not fit in to and more concern with the intention of what is being put out and how it can affect those who are listening.

A strong yet sensual singer songwriter with tunes that would sit nicely in a playlist somewhere with "Florence and the Machine" or as a collaboration with "Zero 7".

Prior to her move to the US, Lisa worked at the National Swedish Theater of Helsinki as a lead charter in a the Debut musical KICK while simultaneously working with other local musicians. Soon after the musical ended she moved to LA where she studied sound engineering at renowned music school MUSICIANS INSTITUTE which lead to her working at several local studios including PARAMOUNT RECORDING STUDIOS which hosted artist such as DR DRE, LMFAO and 30 SECONDS TO MARS during her time there.
Lisa has release several record with several prior bands but the current release "A WEEK'S WORTH" is her first solo record. The record was created, record and released in one week (7 songs in 7days).

Lisa continues working on new music in the studio and plays shows in the LA region at venues such as House of Blues, Witzend and Bar Lubitsch.
