"LISA ALMA NEW VIDEO “TUESDAY”"

Lisa Alma blends her soothing voice with tranquil piano chords and pulsating electronic beats to create an encapsulating dream-pop universe. Her self-titled album’s melodramatic aura puts a contemporary spin on ’80’s pop music. Intoxicating sounds and contemplative lyrics produce a sense of depth on her powerful debut album.

"watched and loved: Lisa Alma - Tuesday"

Lisa Alma is from Copenhagen, Denmark and started making music in 2008. Her music can be described as the young Stevie Nicks of dream pop. Her sound creates space for your thoughts and allows you to expand emotionally, almost comes with a subtle from of positive empowerment. She manages to sympathize with the darkest of moments in the most wonderful and uplifting way possible. She also proves to be a successful remix gal in her remixes for Battlekat and Just A Number.
Lisa said about the video for "Tuesday": "I once had a girlfriend. We were soul mates. Waltzing away. We were inseparable. And then one day, on a Tuesday afternoon we shared blood... In the video I play with different movements that are being repeated over and over again. I am fascinated by repetition and the idea of how people construct their identity through repetition. The video as media allows one to fuck up the laws of gravity. There's love. And there's gravity."

I found out about Lisa from a now very good friend of mine. "Outbalance" is the first song I heard by her and I was caught by the picturesque lyrics and the soft beauty of Lisa's voice. Also the video for this song is absolutely thoughtful and lovely. I'm incredibly fond of strong women in music, especially those who dare to master the production part of it as well. - Through Lily's Eyes

"Lisa Alma - Tuesday - Swede + Sour Premiere"

With the release of her debut single “Tuesday”, we’re proud to premiere Ikaros’ first release and the signing of 26-year-old Copenhagen-based artist Lisa Alma. “Tuesday”, Alma’s hazy, dream-inducing track is a buoyantly joyous piano-driven single which contrasts with its darker and deeply-undulating rhythm. Immediately following is equally captivating B-side “Our Time”, slowly melding from the undersides of “Tuesday” into the humid dank of Lisa’s seductively breathy whispers and the song’s raunchy guitar. Lisa, who has a Masters in Theatre and Performance Studies from the University of Copenhagen had this to say about her the song and her musical process:

” A waltz performed primarily in closed position, ‘Tuesday’ is about meeting a soul mate and knowing that you have to leave before it even begins. When I make music I always try to combine my experience in life with what inspires me the most. It might be photography, performance art, theatre or everyday life. What I like about making music these days, is that you can combine all sorts of artistic expressions into one output. Music (itself) is silent and sound but it can also be (put together with) videos and photography. Music can mean whatever you want it to be and to me I find it as a very visual concept.”

"Lisa Alma - Outbalance (Swede + Sour Premiere)"

Making its official re-release is Lisa Alma’s latest single “Outbalance”. Slow and solemn, yet filled with a spacious reverb, the single feels warm and cozy with Alma’s soothing voice gently kindling over the grandeur of the prominent piano chords on the track. About those nice things such as tulips, champagne, love letters, long nights and kisses, the song is Alma’s flowery tribute to love. Accompanying Lisa’s fluttery romantics is a dreamy Italo-disco rendition of the track with Copenhagen DJ Mai Schaarup behind the remix and appears on our first official mixtape “Dance, Dansk, Dance”. A video will follow next week but until then if you live in the Copenhagen/Malmö area, Lisa Alma will be playing live at the St. Johannes Church, Malmö during the Øresundsfestival on May 11th. - Swede + Sour

Since one is a very lonely number we are the proud hosts of already two new videos by the wonderful Danish artist Lisa Alma. We've been hugging her emotionally and musically for a long time now.

'Tuesday'
The first video 'Tuesday' features Lisa Alma. Lisa about the video: "I once had a girlfriend. We were soul mates. Waltzing away. We were inseparable. And there's gravity."

The second video 'Our Time' features Lisa's nephew Mads-Emil. Lisa about the video: "I shot this video at my grandmothers house and it features my nephew Mads-Emil playing the little boy. I wanted to make a melancholic expression through pictures of hope, playfulness and loneliness. Children's expression can be so powerful compared to grown ups. Four years ago I wrote the song together with a friend of mine called Julie. We wrote it on a Saturday in July. It was warm and raining outside. We fell safe inside. Today we are older."

Both singles are released via Ikaros. - Nordic by Nature

"Watch: Lisa Alma – Tuesday / Our Time"

Danish singer Lisa Alma has released two beautiful songs that are reminiscent of ’80s queens of pop Stevie Nicks and Cindy Lauper.

‘Tuesday’ is a sun-induced melodic narrative, with slight touches of lamenting depths. The video is shot simply in black and white, blurred movements depicted by Lisa, with an almost 3D quality to it. Yearning and soft-spoken, the video is a well-constructed visualization to the single. Lisa comments on her video saying, “I once had a girlfriend. We were soul mates. Waltzing away. We were inseparable. And then one day, on a Tuesday afternoon we shared blood… In the video I play with different movements that are being repeated over and over again. I am fascinated by repetition and the idea of how people construct their identity through repetition. The video as media allows one to fuck up the laws of gravity. There’s love. And there’s gravity.”

In the B side ‘Our Time’, Lisa filmed her nephew in a thought-provoking composition exploring what it feels like to grow up and of being alone. On this video Lisa says, “I shot this video at my grandmothers house and it features my nephew Mads-Emil playing the little boy. I wanted to make a melancholic expression through pictures of hope, playfulness and loneliness. Children’s expression can be so powerful compared to grown ups. Four years ago I wrote the song together with a friend of mine called Julie. We wrote it on a Saturday in July. It was warm and raining outside. We felt safe inside. Today we are older.”

The mystery in these tracks is what makes Lisa Alma a great new musician, who, with her calm and beguiling vocals, is a wonderful addition to the Scandinavian music scene.
