Alvarado’s material is based on her life experiences as a single mom and Latina working in a male-dominant business.

She said it’s the best job in the world.

"I love making people laugh." Alvarado said during a phone interview with The Park Record from her home in Los Angeles. "There is no other job like it."

"It’s unreal to bond with a group of complete strangers and laugh together," she said. "When the set is going great, I’m laughing, too, and talking with them half the time."

"The Funny Girl"

Born to peruvian parents in Chicago Alvarado always knew she wanted to be a comedian. "I liked making people laugh, but I was never the class clown, " she says. In prepararation for Stand-Up she worked first with an improv troupe. Now with an arsenal of self-depracating jokes about teen pregnancy and dating delivered with a deadpan irony that runs counter to her movie star looks, she's primed for stardom. A recent appearance on the CBS network's COMICS UNLEASHED, regular appearances on SiTV, and status as a sleeper fave at this years LAtinos Laugh Festival have combined to solidify her reputation as a bona fide Latina Queen of Comedy. "She has a very bright future ahead of her," says Festival Founder Jeff Valdez. "When People say 'it factor' it's hard to define. You know when you see it. It's that electric illumination. That's Lisa." Able Salas - Ciudad Magazine
