When Cecil Hills singer Lisa Crouch entered a Mounties talent quest four years ago, she had no idea it would pave a new career path for her as an award-winning performer.
Lisa was left speechless at the recent 'MO' Awards when she won the Peter Allen Variety Performer of the Year.
The bronze trophy glistened brightly against the silver 'MO' she had just won as best female variety performer.
Lisa said she "fell into her singing career" after years of teaching music in Campbelltown schools.
"I accidently entered the Mounties talent quest and I think I sang River Deep Mountain High by Jimmy Barnes" she said.
"I wond on the night and one of the judges, Jan Adele, gave my name to an agent, Alan Skeed, and I haven't looked back since.
The previousyear, Lisa won the ACE and MO Awards for best new talent and took a lead role on the cruise ship Norwegian Crown.
She also launched a cabaret show and joined Kerri Lacey in forming "Just Jammin".
Lisa is now kept busy with gigs on her pilgrimage of talent up and down the coast.
She has just finished recording an album called "Almost Live", which consists of cabaret, rock and contemporary numbers.

Local singer Lisa Crouch has wowed the music world by taking home two 'MO' Awards at the recent awards night.
There was Delta Goodrem, Hugh Jackman. Now there's Lisa Crouch.
She may not be a household name yet, but local singer Lisa Crouch has three little men - 'MO' Awards - sitting on her piano.
Lisa took home two gongs at the awards held on Monday, June 28 - Female Vocal Variety Performer of the Year and the Peter Allen Performer of the Year award.
In 2002, she received the 'MO' award for Best New Talent.
Lisa said the Peter Allen award "...came out of the blue".
"To have my name pop out at the end was quite a surprise, considering I have only been around for four years."
However, she said she knew she was in with "a good chance" for the Vocal award.
"I knew I had a good chance at that, because that's what I do."
The former music teacher turned professional four years agp after winning a Mounties Talent Quest. She now performs in clubs across NSW and writes original tracks. "I try to write as many original songs as I can and have as many different people listen to them," she said.
When it comes to performing, lisa said nerves and excitement trigger the same chemicals in the brain. "You have to be nervous, because if you don't, I don't think you are going to give a really good performance," she said.
"The nerves remain until I sing the first note - once you win the (the crowd) over, you calm down."

Lisa Crouch is a solo entertainer who has created the group - LISA CROUCH AND DIG THIS. Lisa uses this vehicle to perform her original material. The band may be a standard 4 piece group with two horn players, but we have the added bonus of having four part harmony. This allows us to perform a real range of covers. This is useful when we are doing gigs for functions etc. All members are over 30 years of age and have come from very different backgrounds. Some members have been playing professionally since they were 15 and others come from classical and/or jazz music backgrounds. Lisa writes all the original material then the members of the band develop through performance. This makes for a great relationship between all members. Lisa's influences are various in number. She gets inspiration from daily life, catch phrases, comments, words, images etc.
