Biography

Lisa Day is a 19-year-old singer/songwriter from Northern Virginia. As a current student at James Madison University (JMU), she is studying Music Industry with a vocal concentration. Outside of Lisa’s classical training in school, she simply loves to write, record, and perform all styles of music. Growing up, Lisa sang in choirs, performed in theatre groups, and also had her own solo act. Always thinking creatively, Lisa started to write jingles and songs, and arrangements of popular songs to use for auditions to better showcase her voice. Whether she was performing her original pieces, or covering popular music, she couldn’t get enough of singing for others.

By her senior year in high school, Lisa had received several honors as a singer and musician, and was asked to write a song for her high school graduation. “This Song” was written for her high school commencement and was performed by her and five other students at the ceremony. When Lisa decided to further her education in music at JMU, she knew that if she wanted to be a recording artist as well, she would have to find extra time in her already busy schedule to accomplish this goal.

In the summer of 2009, Lisa spent her time writing, practicing, and preparing her music to be recorded. By the time school started she was ready to start recording, and each weekend, she traveled back and forth between school and the studio, working to finish what she had started.

Lisa’s debut album, “Here’s To You”, a seven-song EP, has a refreshing, new sound that will surely be enjoyed by all who hear it.

Lyrics

Here's To You

Written By: Lisa Day

Here in my bed I lie awake
I know that the truths you told were fake
But your smile still bends me out of shape

But thinking back on days I spent with you
Everything you said just seemed so true
I didn’t know that things would end this way

But for now I’ll just say
You can have it your way
All I want is for you to hear me

So here’s to a summer
Of staying out late
Because was dying to have you near me

Yeah, when a boy meets a girl
It isn’t love, its just fate
Because his look and his touch is deceiving

Even though I know
That’s just the way things go
I won’t give up
Cause I want us to be you and me.

Back track to graduation day
I sang a song and thought things would be ok
I didn’t know my heart was soon break

I know that everything has changed
Mixed up, yeah over, rearranged
I guess things are better of this way

So for now I’ll say
You can have it your way
All I want is for you hear me

So here’s to a summer
Of staying out late
Cause I was dying to have you near me

But when a boy meets a girl
It isn’t love, its just fate
Cause his look and his touch is deceiving

Even though I know
That’s just the way things go
I won’t give up
Cause I want us to be you and me.

I really want to let this go
Because I’m feeling so alone
I’ll really try to let this go
But what I feel is all I know

So here’s to a summer
Of staying out late
Cause I was dying to have to near me

But when a boy meets a girl
It isn’t love, its just fate
Cause his look and his touch is deceiving

Even though I know
That’s just the way things go
I won’t give up cause I want us to be
Oh baby please come, come back to me
I won’t give up cause I want us to be you and me

Before

Written By: Lisa Day

Content with the fact that he still needs more
If you search a short while you’ll find his memory
A reason for caring like he has had before
Still not the same
Yet it still has to be

So if he feels that somebody out there should just want to be waiting
Or hating on the outside
No one stops for long to count the minutes that come with that notion
When they find out that you’ve lied
And now there’s nothing to hide

Whoah You know
Whoah
Whoah

[Instrumental solo]

I’ll take you out there to the hills over town
Or a morning in the country if that’s enough to share
We wouldn’t look for things that could never be found
I wouldn’t be too happy with no time to spare

So if he feels that somebody out there should just want to be waiting
Or hating on the outside
No one stops for long to count the minutes that can come with that notion
When they find out that you’ve lied
And now there’s nothing to hide

Whoah You know
Whoah
Whoah

Carried Away

Written By: Lisa Day

You say let’s just stay friends
Please don’t say it again
Cause you already know
Things will change when we are all alone

You say I’m right and you’re wrong
But somehow get along
But when it comes to her
It gets so frustrating and I feel like hating

She throws her drink and thinks that she is in control
He blows my mind that’s why I can’t leave these thoughts alone

So carry her away
Get her out of my face
You know just how to break my heart
When close to you or miles apart

So carry on your way
You’re not here to stay
You know just how to make things tough
And you just can’t seem to get enough

You need to make up your mind
Or you can just say goodbye
You need to pick a side
Or one of us will leave you behind

Cause when it comes to feelings
You just don’t seem to feel me
And you are all alone
When you’ve got nobody’s hand to hold

She throws her drink and thinks that she is in control
She doesn’t know me, but she won’t leave me alone

You seem to always get your way
But baby don’t get used to it
Things are changing today

So carry her away
Get her out of my face
You know just how to break my heart
When close to you or miles apart

So carry on your way
You’re not here to stay
You know just how to make things tough
And you just can’t get enough

So carry on your way
There’s no need to stay
I’m through with feeling this way

So carry on your way
There’s no need to stay
‘Cause things are gonna change

Without A Trace

Written By: Lisa Day

These days, they don’t last long
So don’t get me wrong
Here in this song

But why, why waste your time
Living your life
Hoping you’d never been alive

‘Cause when the clock starts ticking
And the pain starts sticking
You know its time to leave it all behind

There comes a time and place
But I need some space
So goodbye, I’m leaving you without a trace

Without a trace
Without a trace
Oh whoah
Without a trace
Without a trace
Oh whoah

Now this, this is goodbye
There’s no need to cry
Just close your eyes
And leave these troubles behind

It won’t be the same
With things so changed
But things, they always end up being ok

‘Cause when you’re losing control
And life starts taking its toll
You know its time to leave it all behind

There comes a time and place
But I need some space
So goodbye, I’m leaving you without a trace

Without a trace
Without a trace
Oh whoah

Hey, Hey

Written By: Lisa Day

I see you walking down the street
And now you’re looking back at me.
And by the looks that I can see
You want to come right here to me.

Hey, Hey you always know I’m free
So come on and take a ride with me.
Hey, hey you’re always in my dreams
I’ll be your wildest fantasy.

Cause boy I’d love to take you out
I want you, boy, without a doubt.
Oh yeah, I am not your average girl
Oh, no I am here to rock your world.

Hey, Hey you always know I’m free
So come and take a ride with me.
Hey, hey you’re always in my dreams
I’ll be your wildest fantasy.

I want you to know
Oh I want you to know
What I’m feeling’ inside
So come on over, there’s no reason to hide.

Hey, Hey you always know I’m free
So come on and take a ride with me.
Hey, hey you’re always in my dreams
It’s time to make this dream a reality

Forced Feelings

Written By: Lisa Day

Forced feelings or none at all
Pushed to breaking points
Another unsurprising fall

Unspoken words
From one last call
You know you’re always wrong
You know you’re never right at all

I try to cover it up
I try to hide the fight
To be more than just friends
Or to say goodbye
I won’t give you one last try

I always knew there’d never be a you and I
So if you here my voice than just ask yourself why
You could have had a chance but now you’re in the cold
You chose to live your life with truth untold

Contradictions left and right
Try to cover it up
Try to hide the fight

But being bitter won’t make it better
The hurt won’t make it right
You never let me choose
But I still gave you a try

I try to cover it up
I try to hide the fight
To be more than just friends
Or to say goodbye
I won’t give you one last try

I always knew there’d never be a you and I
So if you here my voice than just ask yourself why
You could have had a chance but now you’re in the cold
You chose to live with truth untold

It’s come to an end
Yeah, time ran out
And so did you
You took a different route

So if this is your way
Of letting me leave
Then there’s nothing left to say
I'll just go in peace

This Song

Written By: Lisa Day

Looking back I’ve come to see
The person I have grown to be
And now my heart is finally setting free.

Looking back I’ve come to see
Who has journeyed all along with me
And shared the best and worst times there could be.

Our lives fly by so fast
And now there is no turning back.
Embrace the future, but don’t forget the past
Because memories are made to last

Dear friend these are the days we will remember
Rejoice, make some noise, and shout together.
When you’re down I’ll hold your hand and make things better
Because best friends means friends forever.

Looking back on all our lives
We’ll laugh and cry and say goodbyes
‘Cause the truth is something we cannot deny

So when you want to run and hide
Just open up and look inside
You’re strong so find your strength and inner pride

The time is coming near
Reality is crystal clear.
So take the wheel and don’t look back, just steer
Let love shield you from what you fear

Dear friend these are the days we will remember
Rejoice, make some noise, and shout together.
When you’re down I’ll hold you hand and make things better
Because best friends means friends forever.

You have to sacrifice
You have to take a chance
Come on and roll the dice
Just sing along and dance.

So follow your heart and chase your dreams
Life flies faster than it seems
Enjoy the ride; throw up your hands and scream.

And when you feel like hope is gone
Remember the words to this song.
A tribute to my best friend of so long.

Our lives fly by so fast
And now there is no turning back.
But if I could, I’d do it all again
So these memories will never ever
These memories will never ever
These memories will never ever end.
