Biography

I am a singer/songwriter that has been "in the closet" for years with my music. I have only recently started singing in public and recording my own songs. For years, I was so afraid to share the musical part of me and to let anyone hear the words that were being put together in my head. But I am now finally "bearing my soul" to the world and it really feels great! I guess I finally figured out that life is not meant to be played from the sidelines and being afraid is just no excuse! I have 3 beautiful children and I don't want them to learn from me how to be afraid of failure or of what others think of them. I want them to be brave and to always go for their dreams! Today, my children are my biggest influences and a big source of inspiration for my songwriting. I have a passion to help orphans and am hoping that my music will pave a way for me to do more in caring for the fatherless. Thanks to my mother and father, who both loved music, I grew up listening to all kinds of music especially country classics like Alabama, Loretta Lynn, Crystal Gayle, Exhile, Patsy Cline, Vern Gosdin, George Jones, Kenny Rogers, etc. I grew to love old and current country music and all other types of music! I am also a huge fan of Aerosmith, Prince, 80's Madonna, Matchbox 20, Lauren Hill, Heart, Cher, Cheryl Crow, and many more! My songs are mostly about life experiences that I have had or that someone close to me has had. I write from the heart. I believe that's the only way. I have just always loved music and am so happy to finally be doing something with the gift that I have known has been inside me for so long! It feels like being set free!

Pieces of Me

Written By: Lisa Gray

“Pieces of Me”
Written by: Lisa Gray

Lying on a faded blanket
‘neath a weeping willow tree
As he searched my face for an answer
He asked, “Baby do you love me?”

I paused for a long time
Just couldn’t find the words
Cause he is the best man I’ve ever known
And I don’t want to make him hurt

Then I said, love’s really taken a toll on me
I’ve got nothing left to give
Cause standing here’s just an empty shell
Where a loving, trusting woman did live

Chorus
You see I, left my heart in Georgia
Just below the Tennessee line
And I ain’t felt a trace of my soul
Since he left me in Caroline
Then I shed all my tears in Southern California
Standing in the crystal sand
And in the heart of Chicago’s magnificent mile
I left the best part of who I am
But I think I could really love you
If only I could find
These pieces of me
That I left behind

[Instrumental break]

In all my days, I’ve never seen
Anyone move so fast
He flew out of my life, like a bat out of hell
I pretended it was for the best

Then two months later, in a summer storm
There he was, standing in the rain
He said, I know I’ve been gone for a long time now
But baby please listen to what I have to say

Chorus
I’ve been to Tennessee and Georgia,
Chicago,…..Caroline
I even stood on the shores of Southern California
And there was nothing I could find
That could compare to the beautiful woman that you are
And I’ve come back to tell you
Only a fool would’ve ever let you go
But love’s still worth more than what you’ve been through
And should you ever decide to give love another try
I’ll be waiting patiently
Cause you are the best woman I’ve ever known
And you now own, all the pieces of me

As he turned and walked away, I
Couldn’t believe what happened next
I felt a tear rollin’ down my face
Felt my heart beatin’ in my chest

I screamed, “Wait! I really love you!”
Thank God, you helped me find
These pieces of me
That I thought I left behind

Lyin’ on a faded blanket
‘neath a weeping willow tree
As he searched my face for an answer
He asked, “Baby do you love me?”

So Over

Written By: Lisa Gray

So Over
By: Lisa Gray

I might have set a record
I wouldn’t be surprised
Cause I’ve never gotten over anyone
So fast in my life

I thought you had the power
To really cut me deep
But that all changed since I found out you’re a liar, a low down, no-good
Two-timin’ creep!

Chorus
It’s so over
We’re so through
Ever since I walked in and found you with miss you know who
And don’t think for one minute
I’m gonna miss life with you in it
I ain’t turned not one shade of blue
I’m already so over you

You don’t have to say nothing
There ain’t nothing to say
We can’t talk it out, fight it out, work it out
So just go away

You’ve already wasted
Too much of my time
So catch a train, catch a bus, catch a plane, jump in a lake, I don’t care
Just get out of my life

Chorus
It’s so over
We’re so through
Ever since I walked in and found you with miss you know who
And don’t think for one minute
I’m gonna miss life with you in it
I ain’t turned not one shade of blue
I’m already so over you

All the love that I felt
Is suddenly gone
You’ve crossed the line this time and I’m tellin’ you
What you’ve done is so much more than wrong!

You say I’m just acting
That this is not what I’m about
But that was then, this is now, it’s a new me, I think I like her
So don’t let the door….HIT YOU ON THE WAY OUT!!

Chorus
It’s so over
We’re so through
Ever since I walked in and found you with miss you know who
And don’t think for one minute
I’m gonna miss life with you in it
I ain’t turned not one shade of blue
I’m already so over you

I can tell you’re surprised
And to tell you the truth
I’ve surprised myself too
Cause I’m already so over you

I Wish I Was a Guitar

I Wish I Was a Guitar
By: Lisa Gray

It’d been such a long week at work
I said girls come on let’s go out
There’s a new act in town
Hey let’s go see what it’s all about

I knew we were in for some fun
When I looked up on that stage
And saw the best looking man that I’ve ever seen
With a guitar in hand he started to play

Chorus
I said, I wish I was a guitar
Oh, I wish I was those strings
And I was pressed against his body
Feeling his hands all over me

I would make such a beautiful sound
Every time he turned me on
Oh, if I was his guitar
He could play me all night long

I was only looking at his hands
And wishing that was me up there
We could make such sweet melodies
We could make such a perfect pair

He was playing nice and slow
And then he started picking up the pace
And I said Lord, please make me a guitar!
Just once I’d like to take its place

Chorus
I wish I was a guitar
Oh, I wish I was those strings
And I was pressed against his body
Feeling his hands all over me

I would make such a beautiful sound
Every time he turned me on
Oh, if I was his guitar
He could play me all night long

I noticed I started singing off key
When he started working the room
Then I said girls, you know, if I was his guitar
I bet he’d put me right back in tune

Chorus
Oh that’s one lucky guitar
Can’t you imagine how good it feels
OH, if I was that guitar in his arms
I’d be praying for a record deal

I’d let him spin me around and around
I’d even let him strum me along
Cause if he’d let me be his guitar
I’d always play his favorite song
Oh, if I was his guitar, if I was his guitar
Oh, if I was that man’s guitar
He could play me all night long—o—o—ong! Whoo!

When I die, I want to come back as a guitar!!

More Than a Love Song

“More Than a Love Song”
Written By: Lisa Gray

The doorbell rang at five till nine
Through the window, I saw you
My heart sang…..I felt butterflies
Knowing what I was about to do

I thought I had convinced myself
That this really didn’t mean much
Been workin’ so hard to deny my heart
To not surrender to your touch

But, I think it’s time you know
Ya, I’m ready to come clean
About the truth burnin’ down inside of me
So listen to these words I sing

Chorus:
This is more….more than a love song
This is me laying my heart on the line
Oh, I’ve held back for such a long, long time
It’s not like me to bear my soul
I’ve got too much to lose to lose control
But this is what I’m placing my bet on
Ya, this is more than a love song.

You know, I’ve been hurt before
That pain it haunts me still
And I know I could lose if I play this game
But if I don’t, I’m gonna lose myself

You are the first to see
This broken girl inside of me
After so many years of hiding
Because of you, I’m finally free

This might be my last chance
To show you what I’m really made of
So get ready, hold on, it’s gonna be a ride
I won’t settle for only love!

Chorus:
This is more……more than a love song
This is more that just a feeling that I have
I’ve never wanted anything so bad
I don’t care if I fail or if I fall
This time I’m gonna give my all….Gotta give my all!
This is where I belong
This is more than a love song

You’ve drawn a map upon my heart for me to find my way
Back into love, back into life, back to the place where I want to stay

Chorus:
This is more, more than a love song
I’ve got a feeling that there’s so much left in store
I’ve never felt anything like this before
You ask if what I feel is love,
But this isn’t love, it’s so much more……!
This is more than a love song!
This is more than a love song!

This is more, it’s so much more…………
So much more than a love song
