Bio

Soulful, sensual, and uplifting, are just a few words listeners have used to describe Lisa King. Lisa's gospel roots come through in every note she sings. "I was raised in the church, and I have always loved gospel music. There are times when nothing else will help, but a good Clark Sisters or James Cleveland song."
Born in Harvey, Illinois and raised in Benton Harbor, Michigan, Lisa started writing and singing music at the tender age of 4, and continued to perform in local talent shows and competitions. At the age of 12 she formed an R&B group called ATFC (All Time Female Crew), which performed locally, with minimal success. After relocating to Columbus, Ohio, Lisa was a member of several gospel and R&B groups, including, Young & Committed, Ephiphany, Honey, and Cjazzic Soul. After locating to Phoenix, Arizona, Lisa continued to sing in groups such as Calumet, and a brief stint with the Voices of the Supremes. But it wasn't until Lisa teamed up with CELO to form FAMOM Entertainment & OTS Records that she discovered her true calling.
"My music is a reflection of my life. Every trial and every triumph has shaped me into the singer I am today. I write from my heart, and I sing from the depths of my soul. I believe that if I can't feel it, you can't feel it, so I put everything I've got into it."
People are often surprised to learn why Lisa named her company FAMOM Entertainment. "I take great pride in my people, and there are several great Black people who have inspired and influenced my life. I wanted to pay tribute to the ones most dear to me. The F in FAMOM stands for Flo-Jo (Florence Griffith-Joyner-RIP), the A is for Aretha, the first M is for Marvin (M. Gaye- RIP), the O is for Oprah, and the last M is for Maya Angelou."
Lisa's honest and unpretentious writing style deals with such issues as self-esteem, domestic violence, and the everyday struggles of being a black woman in America. Her soulful delivery has led her to be compared to some of the most recognized Gospel & R&B singers of our time.
In a time where music fans are searching for the passion and power of the old school sound, keep your eyes on Lisa King.
