A vocalist, songwriter and producer, Lisala has developed a gritty soul and r&b sound that is sanctified by lush motifs that call vocal pioneers like Chaka Khan, Ella Fitzgerald, the Clark Sisters, and Patti Austin to mind. Her powerhouse pipes and innovative compositions make for a listening experience that is both brand new and old as earth.

Since July 2000, Lisala has lent her unforgettable stylings to Burnt Sugar, an ensemble of 14 musicians who perform conduction- the conducted improv form originated by Butch Morris. Burnt Sugar has been featured on BET on Jazz, London's Royal Festival Hall, and Central Park Summerstage among others.

Lisala started her solo project in November, 2000 and opened for Motown recording artist India.Arie at her NYC album release performance in March, 2001. Lisala's compositions have been featured in performance at such NYC venues as SOB's, BAM Cafe, Joe's Pub, Shine, and The Cutting Room.

Lisala’s debut solo CD entitled “Get It” was introduced at a sold out performance at NYC club Joe’s Pub in October 2003. With a blend of programmed and live tracks, “Get It” features Lisala’s unique futuristic sound rich in conversational rhythm and hypnotic melodies. Get It” will pilot you into sonic outer space.
